I just bought two male goldens yesterday as I lost my good buddy "Bonzi" to cancer over the weekend (Man it sucks!). He started drinking a lot of water about 2-3 weeks ago so we decided to take him into the vet last Wednesday. We were thinking that maybe he had diabetes or something but what we found out through the blood work was that something was attacking his red blood cells and so the vet gives us steroids to help fight the cause. On Friday we go and get x-rays taken and of course it is a worst case scenario. The vet gives him less than a month to live and a little more than 24hrs later he was gone. PH##K Cancer! I've lost 4 dogs to it.

I am sorry you lost your buddy. I lost my beautiful Golden Retriever to cancer about 18 months ago.

If there was anything good that came out of this was that I had been teaching security classes for 26 Veterinary Centers around the valley that were all owned by one group. Of course these were all duty-related and we never charged them even though some of them were out of our jurisdiction.

Well, I got a sympathy card from one of the doctors in the group when they found out I lost my dog. They had taken up a collection and made a "sizeable" donation to the University of Missouri Animal Cancer Research Center in the name of my dog. Made me want to cry.
