Soft Plastic Baits...

Many soft plastic baits will fade in time. For that reason, I prefer to purchase baits like Pumpkinseed without any chartreuse on the tail, and then just dye them myself before using. It gives the bait a completely different look, and also adds scent.

Watermelon, Green Pumpkin and other colors will usually fade when exposed to sunlight (not all company's baits do, but most will)

Buy allowing a package to lie in the sun for a day or two, you can adjust the amount of fade you want to create your own colors.

If you really want to try and make some unique creations, take a few lighter colored baits, like Sand or Pumpkinseed, and use some pipe cleaners to wrap around them, in a spiral or in rings. Now drop these baits into a bag with a few darker colored baits for a few days, and then take them out and remove the pipe cleaners. Now you have some unique and natural looking creations.

Always keep plastic baits in their original packages if possible, and only put similar colors close to each other. Some colors will bleed even through a plastic bag.

Hang on to a few of those worn out tails to use as trailers for spinner baits and jigs.

If you try the Gulp brand of plastics, make sure you seal the bag completely between uses and don't leave them laying on the deck when you're fishing....they dry out very fast, kinda like pork trailers for jigs.
