The tournament has been changed to Martinez on the 23rd. This change was told to me by the federation president today. The change was made in part due to the debris in the lake and the poor fish catch count.
Re-mark your calenders - Feb 23rd Martinez lake (2nd Qualifier - Arizona B.A.S.S. Federation Nation)

Martinez will be pretty killer at that time of year. Rosey won't be a little safer to navigate by then though?

I understand - however I am just passing the information along as I have heard it from the Federation Nation's Presdient.

When it was voted to move this tournament to avoid conflict with the TBF, it was noted that Roosey was first choice, Martinez second and that the date would stay the same no matter what. A permit would need to be secured for Roosey to lock it in. With our tournament director recently going through a major surgery, our acting TD has made repeated calls trying to secure this permit and has never received a response. With time running out and no permit, and add in the equation the current debris and horrible fish counts of late, we, the TD and myself, made the decision to go to Martinez; our 2nd choice lake. Better now than to wait until the week of the event and maybe still sitting here with no permit in hand. Kip Pollay AZBFN President

I think it was a smart decison, based on the floating debris and more importantly the large peices of wood floating just under the surface. not to mention the bite is terrible right now. jmho

If he would have waited on the permit and could not obtain it and changed it at the last minute you guys would have roasted him anyways. Get over it and go fishing

Kip, Good call. I have fished Roosevelt in the past under these conditions and it would be no fun. Martinez will be fun, a lot of fun. Besides, they haven't been able to permits. Proof that government control is a BAD thing. (Think health care.)
I can tell you that learning how to fish Martinez is key to becoming a better angler and making the state team.
