FYI,
Checked out the lake level (full) and it should be excellent for crappies in a few more weeks/days! It usually follows San Carlos for the spawn in both bass and crappies. When the elk&deer antlers are droppN its about time for fishN too. I can't wait for both lakes to explode...:1popcorn:
Great view from the Northside.
Example of some of the slabs from Talkalai last year.
I thought Talkalai lake was a private one, only for tribal families. I worked with one of the Talkalai family members a few years ago. He got into the grocery business and was working at the casino too.
Thats a negative on the "for tribal members only". And yeah there's a HP limit of 15hp max. I've seen bass boats in there before, just make sure its trimmed up.
Check that fish stringer out (bailing wire). Now thats a ghettorig.
You guys dont want to go to Talkali...the locals are really bad and steal shit and carry guns......ask Rackman and that Flippin Stick guy they'll confirm....know some folks that got robbed out there...the place is bad news....not worth it...
My buddy's dad fished there every weekend for about a year until one night, when he and a buddy were catfishing in thier tin can, those dumb ass people started shooting at thier lantern in the boat. They had to turn off all lights and lay in the bottom of the boat and troll back to the bank. Now this old dog has been on the front line in a war, and said that night was the scariest of his life.
I was fishing there years ago when a bunch of law enforcement guys were at the ramp. As I was fishing past them they asked me if I had seen any bodies floating as someone had called in that they had saw one. I never saw them recover anything.
Bin Laden has been sighted there too. Also heard rumors of a 400 lb toothless drunken indian chick that wanted to take Flippinstick for a test drive.
Rackman flipped a dead body....well just a foot in a tube sock. "Dude I think I see a foot" then SPLOOSH, he pitches in and the jig plops down on it. FOOT ON! I was there to net it.
Who pitches jigs at severed feet, anyways?

Yes JasonR truth she told me she was the best catch on the lake and to common and get her.,
Jeff good times Elvis the famous "I can cut it at a 45". Dude where the hell has Butte been? I have been trying to get it touch with him...
Some of the worst storms I have ever seen on that lake as well, its the little Bermuda Triangle..
I caught the biggest crappie of my life on that lake. If you have a permit to carry your good to go. Also their was an eagles nest right on the lake. That was cool. Go early am after light and the all nighter drunks are usually to wasted to mess with you. Off by early afternoom before they start drinking again.
Fished Takali many years ago and caught some nice crappie and work with a guy who has fished it annually. He may just be lucky but tells me he's never had any problems. I fish San Carlos every year during the spring crappie bite and although the road out there and the ramp is a mess with garbage, I've never had any troubles. I have been checked by the Apache G&F nearly every spring. Last year we fished around the lap track at Mojave point on a fabulous late March day when the crappie were biting everything you threw at them. We always make sure to keep an accurate count due to the 25 fish limit. We kept swinging by a 2 guys in a red & white skeeter who were also pulling fish in left & right. I happened to mention the limit and they didn't seem to care. They were packing their livewells to top. We pulled off the lake 10 minutes after them and as they pulled their boat out of the water, the Apache G&F pulled up. Those guys looked like they were going to puke. We loitered while the Apaches started counting. They got to 51 and still had fish to pull. I always wondered what happened to those guys.
