Talkalai on Saturday

Headed up there to fish on saturday and was just curious if anyone has been lately, also wondering the condition of the dirt road leading to the tiny launch area, and has the launch area been messed up due to water levels changing so much in the past few months. Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated.

we usually check in on the truck and trailer pretty often, usually a bunch of kids hanging around where we park, does make you kinda nervous, but we dont leave anything too valuable in the truck. and god bless insurance

We're planning on going up to Talkalai too on Saturday. Current plans look like we should be on the water by 7:00. Hey, safety in numbers! How about a couple more boats rollin' up there?

Looking forward to hearing how you guys do up there at Talky.
Getting my r.v. loaded this weekend for Country Thunder.
Leaving Tues. Any of you zoners going ? 100,000 plus people going.
I may have to sneek off & run up to Rosy to see some old freinds at the
marina for a day to get away from the crowd.
Has anyone ever fish the Diversion dam at the end of the Gila east of Florence ?
I drove over there last year while at C.T. just to take a peek. I have heard stories of fish being caught but have never fished it.
I would really like to know. I think I`ll take a rod & give it a shot.

Ran up to Talkalai yesterday. Forgot how pretty that little lake is. CatchnRelease, thanks for the directions, took us right to it. Once I got in there I started to recall the way to get around from the last time I was there in 1991. We put in down at the small, steep ramp close to where the river comes in. There were some people camped down there so I felt save parking the rig. We started fishing along the reeds on the north side and within an hour or so boated 7 nice slabs and lost that many more. Fishing died with the wind around 10:00 so we head down to the river to let my try for some bass. Picked up a couple on DS and tandem spinners. Finally we got a decent breeze from the south and headed back toward the damn and within an hour boated another 10 slabs and lost 6-8 more. Had a great day with the boy and FIL. I'll post a couple pics later this morning. Heading back up there next Saturday

Oh yeah, the females that we cleaned all had eggsacks that looked like they normally would in January. Small sacks and eggs, none ripe. Does that mean they're just late to spawn or does it mean they're all screwed up and may not spawn?
