Allstar Team Results Sagauaro 02-08-2014

Perfect weather conditions greeted the 53 teams at Saguaro on February 08, 2014. In 1st place were Lon Armel and Todd Weber with an impressive 19.47 lbs, which did not include one of the big bass of the tournament. They moved up the points standing from 18th place to 9th and earned $3,115.

Chad Harvey and Forest Webb brought 17.95 lbs to the scales including the 7.29 big bass of the tournament and earned $2,915. They moved up the points standing from 2nd to 1st place and are currently in the lead for the Bassmaster Team Championship.

And then, Chad finally won the $500 Bill Luke Bonus Cash. Guys, you need to remember, Bill Luke Chrysler Jeep Dodge & Ram provides $500 to be given away in a random draw, but you must be present to win. We went thru at least 4 numbers before finally pulling Chadís.

Father and son team Mike and Cody Nugent had the 3rd heaviest bag of the tournament, 15.12 lbs., anchored by the 2nd big bass of the tournament of 6.29 lbs, caught with a DJ Custom Jig. They earned $700 for 3rd place, next time Iím sure they will get in the option. They moved up 5 places in the points standings from 16th to 11th.

Joe Hawks and Joe Zagar were the recipients of an assortment of DJ Custom Jigs.

We thank our sponsors Bill Luke Chrysler Jeep Dodge & Ram, A & M Graphics, Bostonís Lake House Grill, Complete Marine, Biobor Fuel Additives, Canyon Coolers, DJ Custom Jigs, The Tackle Box, Fishermanís Hideaway and Army Bass Anglers. Please support those that support us.

We are starting off a great season with Skeeter Boats, Yamaha Motors, Dobyns Rods and Bassmaster who is providing a path to the Bassmaster Classic.

Our next tournament will be at Pleasant on March 08, 2014

I was actually surprised there wasn't more dead fish. I had to fizz every fish we caught, early in the day I was thinking we might have to stop early because it looked like they were all going to die. Luckily most of them recovered, unfortunately the 7 pounder was the one that died. Most of our fish were caught in 50+ feet...

Even if you catch fish in 20' of water this time of year that fish could have come up from 50' to feed then go back down to that depth. With some fish no matter how well you take care of them or fizz them they can die from the trauma. 92% released alive is still pretty good but there's always room for improvement next tournament. At the All Star Team level these guys know how to care for fish so it's important to realize it can happen to anybody.

congrats Lon and Todd!Well done!

Guys tournament fishermen go above and beyond to take care of the bass and future of bass fishing. The tournament directors and tournament staff members also do there best to ensure healthy fish and fisheries. That being said, over 50 teams @ 5 fish limits is 250+ bass and only a few fish didn't make it.The guy out there in a tinny fishing w/ live minnows and water dogs kills that many on a holiday weekend out there...
