So You Wanna Swimbait Do Ya?

Well over the last (2) seasons I have had a problem... I keep buying swimbaits...If I can give anyone a piece of advice is I would stick to just a few key baits and throw just them...Man swimbaiting has become an obsession, a very expensive sport...Not only do you have the baits, you also have to have the rod/reel to throw them...I have lost hundreds of dollars in baits already...

I'm to the point when I lose a $30 Hudd it's no big deal...I only say that because when you loose a $250 Deps or your favorite $85 softbait, $30 is really nothing...

So if you want to throw swimbaits, be prepared to pay to play...

Here is just some of the baits I have I have amassed over the past (2) seasons:

I would say a majority have been fished, and I use that term loosely, that's why I said be careful about going out and buying a whole bunch of baits...And only a handful have actually produced or I feel confident in throwing, at least for me anyways...

Its like that with any bait really if you think about it. Confidence is key. I have a room full of baits of all shapes and sizes and colors that were designed to catch me....and yes, some have never seen water. I too have a variety of confidence baits that will fit in one 3700 yet I still take 50 pounds of shit to the lake each weekend....im starting to simplify my fishing baits...keep it simple. Easier on the wallet but not so easy on The Hook Ups.......

That rat is pretty queer looking. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I watched a show this afternoon with Roland Martin and some one from SPRO and the were down in Florida throwing nothing but those rats. White in color green tail I think. They caught several fish in the 4-6lb range mostly. Big fish at the end of the show may have been in the 7class. They caught 4 or 5 fish during the 30minute show, that may have taken 3 days to film.

My dad always said fancy baits always catch more fishermen than fish. I've got his 12" jointed Creek Chub Pikie Minnow he purchased back in the early 1960s. Cost a whole $4.00 back then which was quit a bit for the time. Caught a few nice Northern Pike on it but it never produced like the smaller Pikie Minnow or a #5 Mepps spinner.

That is quite the collection.

I have seen that rat in action. It is super cool.

I would love to get 3 or 4 swim baits.

Don't sleep on the ABT.....it's got ugly action but fish always come look at it, still isn't as good as the 2 studs baits you have
