Last year at the superteams there seemed to be a lot of confusion over off-limits waters. This year, I hope Randy will print up a flier and specifically list what is off liimits.
Would be nice to know well in advance of the tournament.
Brian you are a mind reader. I was just having this conversation today. Randy better publish or have Delw his spokeman post something in reference to what is specifically off limits. Last year was a flip flop fest one minute marinas were off limits then it was marinas that only sell gas were off limits then it was marinas weren't off limits.
I was standing right next to Randy when the story changed multiple times while he was trying to explain the off limits to others. There was a big stink over this last year. Randy is the tournament director so if the local Forest or Game/Fish is telling him they can't go in to marinas then he needs to explain this or have them show up to the registration/meeting to explain this.
You can't fish within 50 yards of a gas pump anyways so the fisherman wouldn't be in the way so that's not really the issues. That's a tourney rule!
Like Basstrix I just want a clear understanding on this issue!!
They just need to set the rules and leave them. If you don't like the rules, don't fish the tournament. This goes for all tournaments, not just this one. The Federation got in hot water years ago...they were notorious for doing this.
I fished a Marina last year and might be again this year, but first I got the okay from the manager and Randy and will do the same this year. I forgot to ask the park cops, oops.
Does posted closed mean by the Forest Service or does that mean any Joe Smith that puts a sign on a boat dock that says no fishing? The Marina at the casino says keep out but that is not a official off limits water by the Forest Service. Everyone goes in there to fish.
First of like it has already been said the tournament director has final say as to the off limits.
Let me try to clarify something for all of you coming up here to fish. The people that have these marinas whether it is across the lake at the casino, the lake havasu marina, black meadow, sandpoint, or havasu springs. They do not own the water. They own the docks and the land. They can not stop you from fishing in there. They can site you if you set foot on there dock or on there property and get you for trespassing, but that is it. If you stay in your boat and don't bother anything they can't do anything to you.
There are numerous bouy's around the lake. If it says "closed to personal watercraft" that is jet ski's. If it says "closed", "Closed to watercraft" or "no entry" than that means all watercraft.

For what its worth, FLW Stren had no marinas (whether gas or not) off limits. We were free to fish anything and everything unless (as Justin says) it had "No Entry" or "No Fishing" buoys.
What are "Park Cops"? If you guys are referring to the Arizona State Park people, the supervisor is Tim Kristoff. He is so easy to work with. In fact, at our Havasu Tournament this past saturday, the ramada area lost power. Rather than run my entire weighin without the aid of my laptop, Tim had a honda generator delivered to me for use during weigh-in.
I have run 9 tournaments there in the last 18 months and have never once had the "park cops" even comment on off limits issues. The only off limits on Havasu are the areas clearly marked off limits to watercraft with bouys, as well as 50 feet from gas docks.
I have fished in three of the marinas many times and never had anyone give me any problems. in fact, almost everyone in these marinas, including staff members of the marinas have engaged me in friendly conversation.
Rich this is something that had to do with last year not this year.
when your not familiar an area and someone who has authority( park cop) tells you something you listen, then if its told by another park cop in a different way you have to listen to him as well.
Del, I have run tournies up there for the last two years. It is the same people working for the park services every year. In fact, it is the same people that have been there for years. I cannot speak for what Randy was told or was not told. My post was not in response to what Randy did or did not do at Havasu. My post was simply to shed some light on the "Park Cops" and the marina personnel. I have had positive contact with both and wanted fishermen to know that the State Park personnel and the marina staffs are not bad people at all. That is all.
