Bluegill @ Pleasant for the Kiddos

So I'm from Iowa and haven't gone fishing yet here. I don't have a boat but want to take my 9 year old out to Pleasant to learn to fish this weekend. I was gonna get up early on Sat. morning and hit up the Castle Creek area. Any suggestions of good spots and or bait? I was going to put the son on a bobber with a night crawler and try a few jigs myself.
Just want to make sure he has a fun time to help him get hooked lol

Take a loaf or 2 of bread, make a bunch of 1/2 3/4 " dough balls and chum up a cut give it a beer or two and have your son throw a dough ball weightless free line He will be hooked when he's pulling in all the carp and cats. Tons of fun

It can be good. I've done good on just bread, and also shrimp dipped in( hog wild), nasty ass stink shit. Don't get that stuff on you. If you don't get bit within an hour, move to a new spot and try it again.

Great, thanks for the info. How big are the cats over there? What test line should I be using. Also any info on if thats a good spot for bluegill?

I just joined here yesterday and from browsing around I can see your a busy boy Skunko. I gather that you're either a moderator or you do lots of "favors" for the moderators to keep from being banned. I know how to catch bluegill lol just mainly looking for any good spots especially if you know of spawning spots. Just wanted to take my son somewhere where he could get lots of bites and have an exciting time his first time out

Good lord, I thought these forums were to share info and help each other. I don't mind hiking around and looking for fish. I only asked because I am taking my son for his first time and wanted it to be exciting for him. Thanks for the first few posters but wow this forum is filled with a lot of assholes if I get called a troll for asking a question about a new place I have never fished. Lots of keyboard warriors here
