100 Yards from tires OR 2K fine
So me and a buddy were fishing by the tires the other night. I believe Tuesday. We weren't tied up to the tires but did have the lights out. I thought we were within the rules. We were on the outside of the tires between the tires and the island there. The patrol guy came over and told us that we can't be tied to the tires. We told him we weren't and showed him by trolling away and then he told use we needed to be 100 yards from the tires or he was going to give us a $2000.00 fine. We don't fish that lake very often so I'm not sure what the rules are as far as being a certain distance from the tires. I know you can't be tied to them or in the marina but I thought we were within the rules. Can someone tell me what the rules are so I can be more informed. I would have loved to tell this guy to pound sand because I think he was just being a tough guy.

there is no such thing as a 100 yard rule a 25 yard rule or even a 5 yard rule. if you werent tied to the tires they cant do shit, matter of fact they cant do shit even if you were tied to the tires. they have to call the sheriffs dept.

next time they come around and give you shit, call the sheriffs dept and file a harassment charge make sure you make a report the sherriffs dept HAS to make a report if you ask them to I believe, then turn around and get a restraining order against them LMAO.
you might even be able to have these clowns arrested for harassment on the spot.

Now on the side of their boat it said "Harbor Patrol". Are those the rent a cops or are they the real deal? I guess if someone could tell me who the real deal is that would be great. I'll make sure to mention that they can pound sand next time. We were really pissed but weren't sure of the rules. Next time they will get an ear full from us.

The SHERIFF is all you need to worry about...
Ok Boys, inside the tires is the marina and they have control over it. same thing goes for inside the boom on the south side. HOWEVER, boys stack your boats as high up as you can on the outside of the tires and dare them to call me. They have no control over that I DO. you cannot however tie up to the tires. they are considered a nav aid and it carries a $185 fine
when you goto the mall they have mall cops, are they the real deal? nope not hardley but they have the uniform and band aids to give you the impression they are. KInda like prostaffers they have the boat the shirts and the decals anyone can buy them.
the harbor patrol is like a mall cop, once they get out of the harbor there double useless, the harbor as they call it is surronded by the tires then can only stay inside those areas for there little games which are stretched in the first place and obvisouly for there own protection they need to stay inside the tires cause they would get there ass pounded if they weren't,
look at it this way its kinda like a barking dog inside a fence when your out side the fence they still like to show there teeth through the fence, even though they cant do shit.
they have ABSOLUTELY NO AUTHORITY, the only thing they can do is call the cops if and only if you did something wrong just like you can do.

Man they are little pansy's yell at you and say they are going to call the sheriff and never do. Haha im going up this coming Friday and taking one of my friends that's in the marines and a vet from Nam and they both are or were in law enforcement I think they will flip a lid if they start yelling at us. We will see coz just like boat cop said before they have no jurisdiction if you are on the outside of the tires. You can be close to them and even hit them but you just can't tie to em not sayin ima be that close, get my boat all scratched up. Also the fine wouldn't be 2k for a single violation they would have to get you on quite a few.

Just curious if they had lights and represented themselves as LE or if it was was assumed. Impersonation of officials is a pretty serrious thing and only aggravated by repetition
