I'm signing up with Rich Tauber, as soon as I can come up with the money.
That tournament is no joke. 4 days pre fish, 4 days tournament, 100+ degree days. My dad fished it 3 times back in the mid 80's, back then everyone had a shot at the money, part of me wishes they would have kept it like that.
Maybe next year!
Im in.... can't wait to fish that one..... anyone interested in splitting a room etc. let me know.
It's still at Mead right? I know there was talk a few years back of moving it.
Yeah it's still at Mead.
I heard the same rumor, I heard it was moving to clear lake, that would be a joke.
I just payed for my entry, Can't wait. I've never fished Mead before. What is the typical big weight for mead?

10-12 pounds and in the spring time you will see bags in the 15-20 pound range

Gin clear water, you can see the bottom at 20-25 feet. mostly sandy bottom.

I'll give 2 hints, you'll need to do the rest.
1. Overton arm
2. Temple bar
cool, there are smallies in the lake right? are there alot of them?

Have never caught a smallie on Mead. I'm not saying Mead doesn't have them, just have never caught one.

As champ stated above 10-13 lbs would be a great weight. Most fish in Mead are long and skinny, yet they have been kicking out some 4-5s lately. 3 1/2 is a good fish out there. Lots LMB and Smallies.

It's by far my favorite lake to fish. I have been fishing mead since I was kid. If you get someone that knows the lake, your going to have a blast. The reaction bite is second to none in my opinion (if your in the right place). You can find wolf packs and it's also a good jig lake.

I wish I could do it, but work is being a butthole.

Have fun and Good Luck

Lots of smallies!!

Last year when my dad came in 4th in the ABA classic on Mead, he had a couple good smallies.

Last trip we caught a bunch too.

Cool. I can't wait, the main reason I signed up is I have a chance of fishing with Clunn or the other big names that are going. I was looking at the results from ABA and WON and that seems about right. The weights ranged from 10 to 18lbs.
Fishing with Clunn would be cool. If given a choice which they don't do unfortunately. I would pick A.Martins,B.Velveck,J.Murray. I have fished it and it is a ball buster but a lot of fun. I didn't win any money but had a good time and came home with a severe sun burn and a ton of give aways. Aaron just remember sunscreen, sunscreen and more sunscreen. Maybe some water too!!
Bring a kidney belt. If your pro makes the run to temple bar that is 50 miles plus. If the wind is up you are in for the ride of your life. With all that said, it is fun to fish. Bites can be few and far between. Just keep in mind it is a combined weight tournament which makes it fun. The pro wants you to catch fish!!

+1+1+1+1

Oh HELL yeah, a run across the virgin basin, when the wind is kickin!
It will kill you, I don't know what 3 rounds in the boxing ring feels like, but that has got to come close.
Wait till your in eight foot rollers. You drive inside a swell and there is water six feet above your head on both sides. I am not exaggerating! I was in that once on the Virgin Basin and
was flat out scared! The Pro jokingly asked me if I had life insurance. Anormally fifteen minute run across the Basin took almost 1.5 hours.

Where's 2007 winner Cliff Pirch? Didnt see his name
