Another fishing/quad riding question for Apache Lake area

Hi All, my 12 year old wants to go ride quads again though Dad wants to go fishing. I have access to a trailer for 5 days next week at Apache Lake. I've seen some of the "Hill People" up there buzzing around on quads and I was wondering where exactly it's legal to ride these things up there? I'll have a seperate rig for hauling these quads around so we can leave the resort area and drive for a little. I noticed a wash area that dumps into Crabtree campground area, just west of the main launch and it looks like it goes all the way to Apache Trail but you have to pass through some Ranger housing?
Any thoughts?

you can pretty much ride an ATC on any existing trail (unless posted otherwise) including wash's.

you cannot just go an make your own roads or drive over hills that already dont have a road on them.

When your up there double check with the rangers in the area.
