Any ford mechanics on here?

My 06 F-350 has decided to have a mind of it's own and go to full throttle when IT wants to, even when I am at a stop light...
I know if I take it to Ford they will tell me to replace the PCM first then start throwing parts at it like I was made of money!! Any suggestions other than to buy a chevy, dodge or whatever:confused::confused::confused:

you can have auto zone scan the obd 2 to see if there is trouble code in the system and start from there.if its an 06 then it should be still under warranty unless youre over the mileage.
Need alittle more info...engine size....gas or diesle? I know the gas motors have issues with the TPS sensor....also some has thrttle body issues...
My older ford did that when I broke a motor mount.
I would like info on a Ford mechanic also.
I have a ford F-150, that needs front end work(suspension, a-arms, ball joints, etc..)

I think what Ldl Joe and I both want is a recomendation on someone that is reliable, and trust worthy. Finding a good, and reasonable mechanic is VERY hard to find.

Ldl Joe, I didn't mean to hijack this thread.

Mine did the same thing too. Rob I know a very good mechanic but he is way out west in Youngtown. If you want to talk to him call me and I'll give you his #.
Dont take it to checker or auto zone for their code readers, 9 out of 10 times they dont know anything about the codes. Anyways it would be very handy to know what engine you have in this. Im going to guess that its the 6.0 diesel on the basis of my dealer doesnt see much 350's with gas engines. If you do hook up a code reader and get a very long list of codes such as cylinder contribution codes, injector codes. Normally P0611, P1378 and / or all 8 injector circuit codes means your F.I.C.M or fuel injection control module is the bad guy. Also with it being an 06 there is a very good chance your still under the powertrain warranty still, usually 5 years 100,000 on the international engines. hope it helps good luck
A Ford... Needing to go to the mechanic? I don't believe that... :Iconrotfl

Wanna here worst case scenario? Your turbo is smoked, seals are leaking oil into your intake and your motor is running off the oil when you get out of the gas....

Seen it happen a few times but it's probably just a sensor of some type:biggrin:

Go to the Auto Shop...Kurt does great work!

+1 for Kurt.... aka....MRBASS
Anyone who owns a Ford is a mechanic, Quality is Job #1.......(lol) still luv em!
1st off is the ck engine light on? If so it's thrown a hard code that you can retrieve.
Maybe something simple ect. gas peddle is electric rheostat.Ford dealer for sure as they work on the same type trucks all the time so they have the right equipment & training
to fix your truck maybe a warranty item. You say it maybe their going to tell you it's the PCM. Ok tell them if that does not fix it then it was an unneeded repair put the old one back on and pay no labor.
You guys on here talk crap about Fords all the time for any of you that were in the trades when housing was still working on all the job sites what kind of fleet Pickups did you see Fords.100's of them on every job site.Pratte/ Nippy Bros/ Erikson/ Schuck & Sons /Younger Bros. Ya all those multi millionaires were dumb I guess.

Maybe they got better fleet deals on the Fords?

Franklin the fords were more money. What I paid for 12 - 3/4ton pickup from Ford the Chevys were cheaper in price so much that I got the 12th chevy for free. The Fords held up better but were more money to fix.
Sorry to steal your thread Ldl JOE.

Having money doesn't mean you have brains.
