Anyone know of any good .45s for concealed carry?

I just got my concealed weapons permit and am looking to buy something here real soon... I figured it's about time I get it because in my line of work it's nice to have because open carry usually get's me in to trouble. I definitely want a .40 or a .45 and would like to stick with a 1911 style or something similar (not a fan of polymer frames in the least bit), and would like for it to be of a quality make. I have plenty of pistols but all of them are full size, and to be honest I haven't had the opportunity to shoot anything that is compact as all the stuff I own, and my buddies own, is mostly full size. Was looking at the Colt Defenders, liked everything about those except that pesky $900 price tag... I really love the feel of my Beretta 96 .40 but the thing is huge and would be very impractical to conceal. If worse comes to worse and I don't find anything else I like, it'll be that Defender but I want to see if there's something out there a bit more affordable that is in that same group of pistols.

Anyone have any suggestions?

There may be some more affordable handguns out in the market, But in my opinion spending $1000 on a quality carry gun that can save your life and will last you the rest of your life is not that much of a price to pay. I love my Kimber CDP ultra carry. You probably wouldn't want to put 10,000 rounds thru it because of the aluminum frame. But you can practice with the full size 1911 and the compact 1911 shoots the same. Save your money and buy a good quality handgun that will serve you well for many years. JMHO.
Cant go wrong with a kimber I have a ultra carry 2 in .45 it has a 3inch barrel perfect for concealed carry and you can also check out Para Pistols they have a good line of concealed carry as well all in 1911 good luck

Carry Gun

Just picked up an HK compact tactical in 45. It drive tacks at 20 yards and is a really easy conceal.
Kimber Pro Carry II. Takes a while and some trial and error to learn how to field strip and clean tho. Shoots like butter. I have a hi rise holster with a paddle release cause I need a very secure carry method while on the scooter. Love the set-up.
I had an H&K, and had a Commander. Maybe its because of my Army training (pre-9mm Beretta), I found the Commander easier to deal with. I no longer "carry", so I keep a Smith and Wesson .357 in the car and a King cobra .357 in the house. I do miss that Commander though. I guess what I'm saying is I would be another vote for the Kimber.

Kimber ultra raptor II accuarte dependable

that sure is a pretty weapon..
IMO the Kimber is a great gun, but way to much $$$$$$$$.

If I was going to drop that kind of coin, I would buy the HK Mark 23 (Mk23 SOCOM), without a doubt the most reliable, accurate, best made gun EVER. I don't even have to defend that opinion. All the test's, feedback and service life speak for themselves.

P.S. +1 for Kimber!!

see how pretty it shoots. wish i had the extra cash to justify buying one. i've held them and like their feel and the way their built just not the price tag, this year anyway...
I like my springfield xd. If I had the extra money I would have gone kimber or hk but the xd has treated me well.
