Had an overnight Apache trip planned with Rajin Cajun and out timing could not have been better with the weather. Fished until 3:00am the first Thursday night and ended up with 5 smallmouth and 13 largemouth but nothing larger than 2.5 lbs. Found almost all of the largemouth t-rigging.
Got a few precious hours sleep and hit the water again about 7:00am. Might have slept longer had Rajin decided not to park too close the fish cleaning station. Got a little smelly and fly infested but who the heck pays attention at 3:00am. Started towards the river and I only found a small largemouth so we went to the damn. We found 5 smallmouth and quite a few dead shad on steroids. The wind really picked up so we went back to midlake and concentrated on main points and Rajin really hit a great pattern on a homemade crankbait. I was stubborn and stuck to inline spinners and spoons and only caught two but Rajin's crankbait ruled the day. Wind died down and the clouds started to leave so we did the same about 3:00pm. We had over thirty total bass in less than 24 hours so not a bad trip. Thank goodness for rain suits.
