Ok, so it's been a while since I've been out, but here's my report...

We got there a little late, sun was already pretty much up by the time we got on the water. Didn't make a difference. Picked up a fish pretty quick on a frog. Found the same TRig 6" red crawler robo bite I had last time on the steeper banks and any wood in the water. Using 8 lb and a spinning rod made every fish fun. I had 5 fish in hand before I got out of the first cove with to the right on a mixture of the frog and the robo. Headed out and caught another on the frog on the other side of the second cove right before the big flat. Took a while to paddle across and around the weeds, and the bite slowed till I got to that long string of trees. It was all robo at that point, got the biggest of the day off of one of those trees. Bite kinda died, and paddled across to work the west shore. Bite REALLY died. Couldn't figure it out, then I changed to a shorter, thicker Zoom Finesse worm in sour grape and caught a fish on the first cast. Stuck 3 in a row on my first 3 casts after changing worms. Finished the day with 15 fish in hand and only one was a dink. Biggest was 2 1/2 -3, and with Arivaca having a bunch of really skinny fish sometimes, every fish I caught was solid and healthy. Great day!

Side note, if you guys remember my last report, I mentioned missing a lot of bites and having fish come off on the robo. I normally use Gamakatsu ewg or Laser Sharp ewgs in a 2/0 for finesse worms. Did a little reading, and bought a pack of Gamakatsu regular round bend worm hooks in a 2/0 and man, what a difference. Minimal missed fish on the worm, and most were stuck off to the side in the upper lip. So for smaller worms, I suggest using round bend hooks!

pics: Think that fish wanted that frog?; healthy fish; big as$ cormorant that wouldn't fly away till the last second; tried to get 'action shots', fish didn't cooperate...

Nice fish and nice pics,thx.
Great report and pics..thanks
If only I can find the bigger fish in that lake. With the weather cooling off soon hopefully they'll come out to play. I heard from word of mouth that someone caught an 11lb'r out of there last week. Anybody hear this?
nice pics. good report. did you have any trouble launching, how is the water level?
Not sure how long you have been fishing there, but pigs used to be the norm, until the fish kill. 11lbr would not be far fetched. Catch and release only lake, with almost 10 yrs since the big fish kill. Let us know when you pull out a hog......
is the water still on the boat ramp.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

The first time I ever fished there was July 07, back when the water was really clear and before it filled to the max with that year's monsoon. Caught this one, my biggest one out of there. about a 4 you think?

There is one cement thing of the ramp still barely in the water, we had to get the front tires like halfway in the water to get the little aluminum in, but saw a few bigger boats out there. The ramp cove is SUPER shallow, like 1-2 feet deep for the first 75 yards. I was just using my feet and pushing off the bottom until I could get in deep enough water to even start paddling. Following the channel that goes to main lake, before it turns toward that random tree out in the middle, there is a decent sized boulder, I hit it with my ass as I was kicking out, and saw a boat hit it later in the day.
