We have 4 Junior TBF Clubs in Arizona. Each club is a little different than the others, but they all have tournaments for the club members. Each club is sponsored by an adult TBF club which provides volunteer boat captains for their tournaments. Then each year the Arizona Bass Federation sponsors a State Championship where one angler from each age group is sent to the National Guard Junior World Championship. This year the NGJWC had 80 young anglers from 40 TBF states compete for the National Guard Junior World Champion. The only requirements to compete in the State Championship is each angler must be a Junior TBF member, meet the age requirements and must have fished at least 2 club tournaments to qualify.

This is the best time to join because we just had our State Championship and NGJWC; it’s like the start of a new season. Each club can send their best 3 anglers in each age group to the State Championship. There are 2 State Champions, one from each age group, 11 - 14 and 15 - 18 that are sent to the NGJWC. Some clubs have a 10 and under age group and a few years ago we started a 10 and under age group for the State Championship. This gives the younger anglers the experience of a State Championship.

They are positive examples for their peers, and they represent the future of our sport. Learning to fish, through their state TBF clubs, provides these children with an outlet for clean family fun. It’s a great activity that they will enjoy for a lifetime.

Designed to highlight the best up-and-coming bass fishing talent in the country, the National Guard Junior World Championship also provides national recognition for the positive activities pursued by America’s youth.

Wayne,, that is good stuff.....I sure would like to get more involved in this program here in AZ and could sure help with getting boats and captains lined up. I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of these kids from across the country at the FLW Championship and see the excitement in their eyes.

It would be great to get guys like John Murray and Brett Hite to do some seminars for these kids. I sure would like to see if we can make this bigger here in AZ.

Thanks

Thanks Keith, we're always looking for boat captains. The Phoenix Junior Bassmaster's next tournament is September 26, at Alamo Lake.

The Phoenix Junior Bassmasters have their meetings at the Sportsmans Warehouse on Yorkshire and I - 17. They have had John Murray, Jerry Tate, Gary Senft, Mike McFarland and other local pro's give seminars at their meetings. These guys and some of our club members really go out of their way to help out the kids. Many of them volunteer as boat captains and never ask for anything in return. These guys are awsome and its amazing to see what a difference it makes in the kids lives. They are our future anglers and I know they will give back to the community when they become adults. I also believe they will be better parents.

It starts at home, these kids have really great parents. They stand behind, support and encourage their kids to become good role models because they value home, family, country and god. I wish many other parents were like them, then we wouldn't have many of the problems that we have in this country.
We appreciate your support.
