O K ! I get first picks. I choose Ken and d a . Ned02 will take anybody from the west valley! Of course, I'll back Ken's boat down at the ramp, so Ken and Denny can fish and I'll head up the ramp to the restaurant to have the sunrise special!
I appreciate the enthusiasm guys, and I can see doing that in the long term but not in the short term. Right now there's still work to be done on this site and the worse thing I can do is say I'll do something and not deliver on it.
Now if someone wants to set up a "Road Trip", or a Rally as some sites call it, where a group of people sign up to fish a particular lake on a specific day or weekend we'll help ya out. For example, say a bunch of guys want to fish Alamo the first weekend in October? We'll set up an Alamo Road Trip forum to help you get it set up.
I'm talking about keeping it simple. 5 or 10 boats decide to meet at Roosevelt or Apache on a weekend, cook a few burgers at the campground, throw $20 in a pot, and weigh their fish. No one's making money off it, its just one of those un-organized, by-chance meetings at a lake. Someone posts, "who wants to fish Apache on Saturday Oct 4th?", be up at Burnt Corral Friday nite about 6pm, launching at 6 am Saturday. A bunch of fishing partners say they'll be there! That's it. Road Trip.
Seems like the concept of Road Trips could be popular so let's give it a try! I opened a new forum category called Road Trips. Each planned Road Trip will have its own forum. The forum wiill be used for sign-ups/conversations/announcements about the Road Trip. We'll need a "trail boss" or "head honcho" for each trip. For example, some one who is willing to say 'my partner and I will be at Apache/Alamo/Bartlett/etc. on Oct. 4th/11th/18th/etc' and want some company for a small friendly competion. The "trail boss" or "head honcho" handles the details of arrival time, launch time, weigh-in/ no-weigh in, etc.
No restrictions on whether a Road Trip can be a day trip or overnighter, or a weekend. There doesn't even have to be a competition. Two weeks notice at a minimum and a month in advance would be better I'd think. And maybe a limit on the number of boats to keep things manageable is another suggestion.
OK, who's gonna be the first "Trail Boss" or "Head Honcho"
Westy? Were you planning a trip to Alamo anyway?
Skunked? A road trip to Patty?
