I witnessed two club tournament weigh ins on sunday morning; one was totally disgusting and the other one very professional. The one club had their weigh in at the parking lot on top of the hill; they must be a 1/2 mile from the water. some of the members walked their fish down to the lake in dry bags and tried to release them;; they must have killed 95% of the fish;; i thought these tournament were all "catch and release"??? The other club had their weigh-in right at the waters edge and the fish were never out of water more than a minute; i would say they had a release rate of 98%;;what a professional job these guys did; I don;t understand how one club can be so good and the other so terrible????? I am not much of a fisherman but this blows my mind;; isn;t there some law or rule about this BAD club;; i would say they should never be allowed to fish in this state again!!!

Elkhunter.

Just because they are up aways doesnt mean they are a bad club, people say the same thing about clubs that weigh-in on the beach cause they take all the parking and stuff.

As far as the fish die'ing that could be from alot of things not just on there trip down from the ramp.
Could have happened while they were catching them as well and they weighed them in dead.

There were 2-3 clubs tourny's on that lake sat night. One was roostertales. I dont know where they weighed in but I can tell you those guys are the best when it comes to weigh-ins. they are fast and do everything to save a bass.

There is nothing illegal about dead bass, as long as its with-in the possesion limit.

You will find that most clubs if they see a dead bass or have one give them to people or take them home.

We as "anglers",must learn and take pride in what we do.I would have no problem in weighing fish a way from the lake, but I would make every effort to make sure I keep my fish alive.Sometimes fish can't handle the stress, but I use stay alive, ice, etc. to give them every chance, with great results.Maybe we should have a midnight weigh in and then a 6am weigh in.Another thing alot of angler's don't do,is needle there deep fish, nor do they take the effort to learn. They just weigh in there fish and then sit on there a##,and watch the weigh in.(blah blah blah)

i believe rooster tails was the club weighing in at the parking ramp; and you cann;t tell me that carring fish all the way down the ramp in a plastic bag with NO water is good for that fish;; how long will it live after being put back in??? i don;t care about the dead fish brought to the weigh in; i am concerned about the alive fish at the weigh in; and from what i saw;;they did a SHIT job!!!

I am sure that if it was roostertales someone will say something in here since they read this site alot...

As far as roostetales I dont know anyone in that club that would carry a bass back to the lake with out water, but then again I missed this tourny.

What club did you fish?

Fishing tournament at Bartlett

The 2 clubs that fished it were Canyon and Roostertales. Don't know which was which becuase I couldn't make it but I will find out. Last year at Bartlett we had many dead fish all because some idiots didn't cycle their livewells and killed all the fish. We must have had 20-25 dead fish. This just mirrors life and some people just don't care, taking wildlife for granted. I took home as many as I possibly could. I've also witnessed people throwing plastics, garbage, and line in the water too. And of course I said something to them.

Hey Elkhunter, you should get your facts straight before you start talking trash! I fished Roostertails and helped with the weigh-ins. Yes we were in the parking lot, that way we don`t cluster the ramp like some clubs. And yes we had some dead fish; 4 to be exact, 3 from one boat with broken live wells and one gut hooked! After the fish were weighed-in the live fish went into my boat with full live wells and pumps on. If you had a dead fish you got it back to take home or give away. I personally took the fish back down the ramp and released them into the lake. So that gets us back to you seeing fish in bags with no water. They don`t need water becouse they were dead! You're right about one thing, you don`t fish much becouse you don't know the difference between a live fish and a dead one! To those that care 17.07# won. Jamie

Delw I caught two 5 #ers on back to back casts. And had to tuna boat the second one because Jeff was still play in the net.

Jeff got great mechanics with the net, making sandwiches and get cold water out. Just joking, you know i`ll catch hell for talking about him. Because Bruce will print this out and bring it to the store.

There is only one thing holding him back from being the best back seater in the game ( even in his own boat) is that he talk`s crap all night long.

Roostertails dead fish?

Hey JB, why were you throwing dead fish back into Bartlett? This is not good for the lakes eco system. You, being a more "experienced" fisherman, Shouldn know better and set good examples to those around you.
