Got to Bartlett at about 5am and realized thats waaay too early this time of year. Still dark. Franklin, Troy and I stumbled down to the swimbeach area at Rattlesnake (didnt get BOATCOPS advice to go up the river in time
). Threw topwater into the darkness, nada, but heard fish busting. Threw a T rigged craw into some submerged junk and got slammed. Set the hook on what felt like a nice fish and it came off. Used a few bad words about myself, sharpened my hook, and threw back out and got a solid 2 lb fish. Meanwhile the sun was comign up and Troy was killin them in the back of the cove on C rigged Robo's. He got 3 back there. We moved up the shore, past the broken dock, and fished up the bank...Franklin got a small one on a wired worm (ask him how many wired worms he lost..its not a bank fishing bait!HAHAHA) Troy got another small one on a C rig and I caught nothing. I threwdropshot, T rig, cranks, jigs, and splitshot. Had a nice hit when My jig was just sitting on the bottom and I was stuffing my mouth with sunflower seeds...tried deadsticking my jig after that, just letting it sit there and moving it slowly and WHAM, stuck a 7 pounder! Just kidding. Troy did manage another fish, a 7 ouncer! The weather was perfect! Overcast and rainy. Saw A boatcop, but not sure if it was THE boatcop! Balls of shad were out there, and Im sure the bass were too. Good luck!
