bartlett 8-8-09 pm

Went to bartlett last night from 0630 to 1030. all i could manage was three bluegills on topwater and one 13 inch rat on a c-rig. it was my worst summer trip at bartlett this year. I talked to two guys just before i left (could only take so much abuse!!) and the one guy said they only had four fish between the two of them. He went on to say that the barometric pressure had fallen significantly in the last 24 hours and that was shutting things down??? I dont know if there was any truth to that but it might make me feel better in thinking i wasnt the entire problem last night. Any insights???

Serpico
dropping bp shuts down bite-rising bp bite picks up, it's the way nature is. so yes it does have ab effect on bite.
A falling baromiter is a good thing. Fish get very active. If it is rising that's when it's not good fishing.steady or falling with falling being the best.

That's what I always thought. falling = front moving in = fish moving in to feed. rising = front moving out = fish moving out to hang in deep water with lock jaw. But maybe I have it backwards to...
bite has been better in the mourning...at least for me. And fish have been deeper than I usually like to fish. caught about 20 in 2.5 hrs on Sat. mourn! Mostly dniks but still a good time! Hope that helps

I couldn't put a thing together on Sunday morning. A few super dinks with a spook and two small keepers with a Shakey head.
really? I've been out 2 mournings and 1 nite in the last 2 weeks, and the 2 mournings I did great (well,... good #'s), the night sounds exactly like what you described for your sun.

Also by night I mean evening, off water by 9,... I'm sure the actual nite bite is descent judging from the tmx reports.
how deep?

How deep are they now?
I heard it was better last week but really dropped off this weekend(just my luck) I didn't even take out the dropshot rod.
If you're not on a good bite or good location right now, you have to be real versatile to get fish (not dinks). Finesse is always a failsafe but you are going to get a lot of dinks. Fishing past dark has been noticably tough this year so far, the mid day to afternoon bite has been way better at least for me. Looking forward to the first signs of the cool down, that lake should go off, there has been so much baitfish in that lake it's disgusting.
How deep are they now?
I guess it's all relative... I like to catch fish in 5-15ft if I can... haven't been able to do that (other than top water @ sunup or sundown). so... deeper than that, but not like 40-50ft. wich some would probably think of when I say deep. To me fish'n 20 ft. deep is ... well ... deep. thats just my preference and I can usually find fish shallow most anytime of year!
