Bleeders & swallowed hooks

After seeing floating fish and recent posts about bleeders, we need to share our techniques in hook removal. These are mine.
- If the hook is not visible, cut the line as short as possible and leave it. Digestive fluids can dissolve most.
- Hook in gullet - rotate the eye of the hook towards the gill, then use needle nose pliers through the gill to remove. There was a detailed drawling of this in a bass magazine a few months ago. Can anybody tell me where?
- Pour a "little" citrus acid based soda (Spite is best) on bleeding area. The acid helps blood vessels shrink and stop the bleeding.
