Ive been reading these posts off and on the past year or so, and most of the time, its great information, but other times...and Ive got to tell ya...some of you just need to find a different website or know when to keep your mouths shut! For example, I dont fish tournaments, I used to a few years back and I learned that it takes all the fun out of fishing when youre racing the clock and worried about everyone elses catch, all for what? a measley pot of money that could maybe cover mortgage for 2 months. Theres my opinion on tournaments, doesnt mean it doesnt work for everyone, just not for me, so dont everyone go starting another anal conversation about that. My point is, there are other people who also read this board who dont fish tournaments, and just come on here to find some help in improving their time on the water when they can go because they work alot and a trip to the lake is a gift. Well in this case, if you read a post and you have some secret bait or whatever, dont even post, dont start something you dont intend to finish. Dont post "Its a secret" or "My secret bait" or "Im not tellin" Blah Blah Blah!!! If you guys are so worried about your competition, you have no business competing. You should start up your own "tournament" web page complete with 500+ members who never say anything because youre all so worried about your competition finding out. Want some truth? here ya go, the difference between a good fisherman and a great fisherman is how one person can use the same rod, reel, line, bait, location, depth etc.....and catch more fish than the other guy. My point is this: If someone asks what the hell kind of baits are working and at what depths etc....TELL THEM!!! whats the BFD? If youre so insecure about your bit of info getting out then shut the hell up! Theres people on here looking for help so they can have a better fishing trip, and make memories, NOT out there to screw someone over in one of your ABA, DMV, STD whatever tournaments! Good lord guys, where's your sportsmanship? Just my 2 -cents

Guest, which posts are you relating to? Most of the time, these guys will respond in great detail on how, what, why, where, and sometimes give out GPS coordinates to help somebody out. Granted, some of us are tourney people and if it's close to tournament time the information coming out is usually kept close lipped until the tournament is over.

I've only fished in three oragnized tournaments thus far to date ( I just started), but never had a problem giving or asking for help. Now, if you see a response like the one d a gave me a few days ago about deep dropshotting, he was just playing with me.

The post(question) to d-shot and splitshot about deep water dropshotting was just that. I was asking for their help directly to them and nobody else. With no intent to share that information with anybody else, unless they approve it. They are tourney fisherman and I respect their privacy and I'm priviledged/appreciative if they do share it with me.

These guys put a lot of time,money, and effort on the water to increase their chances of winning in the next tourney. They too have jobs like the rest of us, but find/make time to get to the water.

Guest, I'm knocking you. You just have to realize that a lot of this information is giving and taking. Sometimes you get a lot and sometimes you don't. Respect should always be given to any poster on this site no matter how much information is made public.

Well I fish for tournys and tournys only, I am not that secretive and dont really care. I dont post what I catch them on or where for one main reason, cause I dont want 7000 people on my spots.
Another reason is I prefish and fish hard now why should I go and do all the work and give my spots and bait locations to the whole damn net ,just so they can catch fish? if you want to just go out and catch fish than go gay bass fishing. I fish tournys to try and win, not to catch a fish for fun. cause if I wanted to catch fish for fun I could save 1000's of dollars a year just taking the boat out and fun fishing.(damn I have to explain this to my wife all the time also).

People are not going to learn how to catch fish by just showing up on someones spot and catching a few, what happends the next day when these fish are gone? To me thats a freeloader and I have no use for them. Just like I wouldnt give up my hunting spots.(well I woudl to boat cop cause he cant hit shit anyhow :wink: )

Why should I do all the work to make some wannabe happy? Unless of course he/she cuts me a check :wink:

Dont know what post your referring to. but since you tossed it out , (and if you have been reading this site for a year like you say) you know I couldnt resist.

On the same token you will see that most of the people who post here dont mind helping people.

That would be like you taken your buddy to a bar to show him the drunk chick you are planning on taken home that night , only to have your buddy move in and take her from you.(but something tells me you would do just that :roll:

Also if you have been reading this website for a year plus you will know that alot of these guys are just egging each other on, cause they know each other. well with the excepotion of Jason he really does dropshot ricos, and c-rig buzz baits.

Just a wild thought have you ever tried to ask someone a question on what to use?
I also notice that you dont use your name, could it be you are being secretive also?

I was busting Rookieboy's chops for singling out d-shot and splitshot. He didn't ask for anyone else's opinion.

It appears this bothers you way too much than I think it should. So if there's a post asking "I'm taking my Dad to Pleasant, what should I do and where should I go?" then I shouldn't answer unless I'm prepared to give it ALL up.? That's nonsense! Even if I was prefishing for a tournament, I'd give him some help. Or does it just gripe you when someone says I caught them on "my secret bait". So What!

My turn to vent! What frosts my banana is people who rant and rave about others and don't have the gonads to put their name on it!

I also think it's a gift to go to the lake and fishing instead of working. I don't fish tournaments either. I only have enough extra cash to make the boat payment, buythat expensive Mercury oil, gas, and keep my tackle inventory up to speed. I learned a long time ago that some people on this site are generous with information and some aren't. I know a lot of the people that post and understand why they are not telling it all. You can still get a lot of information if you read the posts regulary and read between the lines. As for all the secret weapons or secret baits, all you have to do is talk with these guys on the water, and 99% of them will tell you nothing but the facts. If you would attend a MMBC at Saguaro, you will even get free seminars. I agree that the information posted is not as plentiful as it used to be. Could it be because if posted, you will find 10 guys at your spot tossing the bait you suggested? I have seen this happen and have had it happen to me. Once in a while I have found the secret bait and the secret place. If you were to be in the same area and I am pulling out 5 pounders plus, all you would have to do is say, Hey Spidey, how did you do that? Unless it's a $15.00 bait, I will gladly toss one of my secret weapons your way and describe as well as I can what I did. I would also hope you wouldn't go on the site as soon as you get home and tell the world. I would hope you would take your wife, son, daugher, or a friend, and let them enjoy what you have learned. Apparently you must be having some "less than stellar days" on the lake. Have you ever offered a ride to any posts for people looking for a back seat? A lot of these guys know their stuff but for whatever reason they don't have a boat available. Chances are, when they are H20mobile, they will return the favor. Not trying to start any pissing contest or anything. Just hoping you will be a little open minded and not bad mouth a site that has improved fishing for a lot of people, not to mention it has started a lot of friendships. You can't find any magazine that will give you more information than is available here. How about that post about people asking what baits they would purchase if manufacturing of baits were to stop? Didn't you think that there were some good tips there? Do you need them to tell you the latitude, longitude, depth, time of day, what cologne to wear? How about those posts from people letting you know when and where they will be fishing? Hit the lake, say hi to these guys. I can't think of any of the regulars that wouldn't help you out.

Mostly everybody here are a bunch of great guys and gals and we ALL help eachother out. Who wants to be skunked? Well, I guess Ray kinda likes that term....

You might try PM'ing some guys or if there is an email in the profile, send an email! I don't mind sharing what is working, but I haven't been on the water for a while with school and all. I've even had folks say "Don't tell everyone what you used to win"!

Chances are, if you don't see us on the water, we will be more than happy to help you out via email or PM.


Just don't ask me for anything. I suck and just get lucky once in a while! LOL! :lol:

well said Spidey!! Dave said some things that I should have touched on as well. If you ever approach a boat and it seems you can strike up a conversation, just ask," do you post on AzBassZone?" Eight out of ten times, your going to find out (especially on Saguaro & Pleasant) that they do atleast visit this site! You have an instant friendship right there. I don't know how many times where I have approached other boats and asked that question. Sometimes I get a "no" and a weird look back at me, but most of the time it's a positive response.

This is one example of many that you may encounter from a AzBassZone dude or dudette;

I approached a boat that had a Father, Grandfather, and Grandaughter in the boat and they weren't doing all that well. they had zero fish in the boat and the little girl was playing with every switch in the boat driving the other two crazy. The little girl was bored because they were having a slow day. they saw me catching fish, one right after the other (yellow bass), but they didn't ask for help.

I approached and introduced my self and ask the question about AZBassZone. they said no to the fact they knew nothing about it. I asked them if they needed help and the grandsonsaid "heck yes!" I tossed them three Kastmasters and instructed them on what to do. The grandfather refused to break down and use the gaybass lure. He was throwing huge rubber thingy that I've never seen before.

The grandson and daughter started hooking yellow bass right away and was a great treat to hear that little girl scream with enthusiasm, because she just caught her first fish.

the grandfather (sitting upfront) refused to change his lure. I told them that they could fish this area and I'll push up into the river. When I pulled away, I heard the son say to his dad, "atleast we're catching fish" & the little girl was screaming again.

I know many posters on this site do just that. they are always willing to help out. Ned02 gives away ricos at the ramp when he feels in the mood of giving! :wink:

I myself tend to agree with the guest post People come and go on this site and there are a few that I know that I would be hesistant to ask a question in fear of humility. But there is a handful of guys on this site that would pretty much take you to the spot. More then a handful!
Guest you need to read through some of the BS posts and if there are specifics that you are looking for try the PM method.
As far as tourney info I do think you would be foolish to even ask what and where. But do agree that there are some that just "free" fish and want to go right out and catch fish. There's enough free info on this board to get on some fish and if you arent finding enough then post. I find that if I post without my name, people like Franklin or Jason answer and what the hell good is that?
I owe a lot to this board/ and the old site. With some of the info that I have read or asked I believe I am a better angler. And I especially thank Delw and Denny for a place to read,talk,BS about a great sport! Delw the pink thong method really works!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chris Love

Sorry, I have to post to this... I read this site a lot however I dont post much at all mostly because I dont have any good info that would do anybody any good (unless you want how not to catch fish). Almost everything I know about bass fishing has come off this site or from somebody that posts on this site and also practice. I know a lot of these guys are friends and love to share information with eachother and with anybody who asks. I strongly believe that even if they tell you everything they know it might not help you because what works for them might not work for you. So if you want help or information here you: go take what "little" information we give you and go to the lake and try things out. Practice, go do some trial and error and if you find something out that we dont know, after all that time and effort you spent on the water I say share all your info with us when you are finished. then the next time you go out let us know how many people are on your spot or are fishing exactly what you had posted earlier. Then you will see why we dont post EVERYTHING.

I've had my day fishing tournaments and have basically retired (although I'm getting a little inspired by Denny's, a.k.a. d a, success. Maybe you can teach us old dogs new tricks. :mrgreen: For the most part, I have emailed personally the tournament fishermen and they have been open with their answers in a private email response. I'm not a threat to anyone on the tournament trail and still enjoy fishing for the fun of it. Guest, if you see me on the water at Saguaro or Canyon, stop by and say "Hi" and I'll share with you on whether or not I'm catching fish. Let me get this right you ( guest ) are mad because people will not give out the places and baits they use? You as a former tourney guy should understand that but then again maybe you dont. You think it is wrong not to share all the info IF I KNEW HOW TO CATCH FISH AND DID NOT HAVE TO TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT THEN IT WOULD BE CALLED HARVESTING AND NOT FISHING!!!!! y es what better way to take the fun out of harvesting than not having to put in the time to figure them out. HHMMMMMM lets look at it this way cause I know you are pissed about the KSW baits well that was before your time on this board okay it started 2 1/2 years ago not last year it belongs to a GUIDE who earns a living on the lake and when he uses it the PEOPLE he fishes with findout what it is. I think if you realy LOOK you will find out that the only lakes that DO NOT have all the info on them are UNPLEASANTVILLE and ROSY AND APACHE
you ask someone about SAG or CANYON and you will get all kinds of info then again if you cannot adapt the lessons learned from these last 2 lakes then you are not paying enough attention. Ask me about CAnyon and I will and HAVE TOLD EVERYBODY what I use and how I use them. AND YES I FISH TOURNEYS then again I could cast the lure for you it does not mean you will hook the fish or do anything else that I do. ALL STOP the dinner bell is ringing on CANYON we are serving buffet of trout under lights on the side we have large saltwater rapalas and giants juicy tubes ripped on top. I you really ask for help on a particular lake I'm sure you'll get at least 5 posts on when, why and how, and to me that's all you can ask, people are not going to tell you their hard earned secrets, you have to work at some things...................personally if I know you, or have met you I have no problem with "sharing" information........I have told many guys on this site what type of trout plug I use at Canyon, I hope one of them catches a monster on it.......you need to get your facts straight before you start bashing people you don't know..............Franklin :x
