I had a day trip today on Canyon, and we did pretty good. Although our big fish was just over 3lbs, we did boat 21 bass. 16 smallies and 5 largemouths. If you are struggling right now on Canyon, try fishing shallower and keep covering water. We never caught a fish deeper than about 12', with most in the 5-8' range. We caught our fish on my jigs and crankbaits. There is also a very good crankbait bite right now on Apache. Good luck.....Joe

Daggit!

Looks like I zigged when I should have zagged. We spent all day Saturday fishing in 18-40 feet with jigging spoons and drop-shots. Only caught one tiny rat.

For the shallower water, do you concentrate on the points, coves, or main lake?

The truth is that each day is different. One day they are cruising the flats and the next they are stacked on points. You need to try both, but if you are not getting bit, change the depth you are fishing. You can catch quality bass all winter long on Canyon and Apache in less than 15' of water if you can find them. Also,do not hesitate to intentionally seekout the coldest water you can find this time ofyear, you might be surprised. Good luck.....Joe

Hats off to Joe who always gives an excellent report...with real fish catching info. I admire that you are not afraid to give out good information when we all know that is how you make your living. It's obvious that this dude can catch fish no matter what!!! Dan
