I took a guy from Peoria IL to try some Walleye fishing on Canyon.
He was out here giving a training session for Caterpillar. As others said it was a slow day. I picked a small LMB and a yellow bass on a white Model A Bomber and another dink on a Kastmaster. Steve missed a couple on a minnow tipped jig, but no Walleye. We decided to troll the walls as we came in. Steve had a Fat Rap on and as we came around the point he said "Hey, I've got something". When he got it to the boat, we looked down and he had not one, but a pair of 16" SMB, one on each hook. I stumbled to get the net, but one got off before I could try to net them. A fun end to a beautiful day. Got an invite to do some Sauger fishing on the Illinois River the next time I get back there.
