Here's one for you guys. Did your current banking institution(s) participate in the bailouts??

If so, are you doing anything about it?

My mortgage was sold to Country Wide. Bank of America bought Country Wide. B.O.A. then took tax payers money (bail out $ ) because they were broke or so they say. Now I am forced to do bussiness with Bank of America whom I dispise!! I can't remortgage because I'm upside down. I guess I'm stuck with them. Note there initials are that of a snake ie. BOA I only pay the mortgage to them ,no other biz. Everything else I do is through the credit union, who took nothing. I will never use a bank again if at all possible. BANKS REALLY SUCK!!!!
azrockman, you're stuck on the mortgage, that's understandable. No shame in that at all. Banks aren't all bad, the problem banks are those who said they would go under unless they could get a low interest loan from the citizens of the USA so they could reinvest their assets to bolster their profits while rewarding the people who got them into the red to begin with. The list above shows who they are.

I'm really curious to see how many people are banking with a corrupt company and what they are planning on doing about it. I know it's early in the life of this poll, but we have 3 people banking with a TARP bank and only one person with an answer as to what their situation is and why.

The poll is anonyomous and you don't need to disclose what bank you are a customer of, just post what your situation is and if you're banking with a TARP funded company & what you plan on doing with them in the future!
Here's some fuel for the fire...

BOA is a joke without a doubt, anyone of us or even poor little ol' Berney Madoff would be getting criminal charges slapped across our asses (rather than civil), but oh no, these guys are above the law!! How can anybody do business with these people??

The last time I checked the American way doesn't tollerate this BS!! The rest of the companies on the list posted above are NO DIFFERENT from BOA!!
Every major bank I could think of is on that list. What am I supposed to do go to Desert Schools Credit Union? Werent they the ones soliciting illegal aliens for checking accounts a few years ago? All financial institutions are corrupt in one way or another...

I agree 100%...I'm in the exact situation that you are, and only deal with credit unions...
I bank with BBVA Compass. That is a Spanish bank. There is a process of bank consolidation right now. I don't think anyone in the government ever plans to enforce anti-trust laws. Banks are like the movie "Highlander", in the end there can only be one. And if I was going to bet on the last bank standing I would have to say it will be JP Morgan Chase. JP Morgan and Government Sachs are the government's favorite.

Guaranty Bank, Austin, TX was closed today by the Office of Thrift Supervision, which appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as receiver. To protect the depositors, the FDIC entered into a purchase and assumption agreement with BBVA Compass, Birmingham, Alabama, to assume all of the deposits of Guaranty Bank, excluding those from brokers.

Guaranty Bank had 103 branches in Texas and 59 branches in California. Former branches of Guaranty Bank will reopen during normal banking hours starting tomorrow as branches of BBVA Compass. Depositors of Guaranty Bank will automatically become depositors of BBVA Compass. Depositors will continue to be insured by the FDIC, so there is no need for customers to change their banking relationship to retain their deposit insurance coverage. Customers should continue to use their existing branches until BBVA Compass can fully integrate the deposit records of Guaranty Bank.

The FCIC is going broke. More money will be printed out of thin air for the FDIC soon. And our great grandchildren are going to be stuck with the bill. LOL. If hyperinflation occurs then everyone can pay back their debts quick, but our economy and our value of our money would be close to zero and I don't think that would be worth it.

I tried with my lender. All i can say is i hate Provident funding more than anything. Bunch of arrogant bastards! All i got to hear about was how they didnt write any bad loans and how only people with a 800+ credit score were approved with them. If i didnt hold a bond for this crappy biz i'm in, i would phuck my credit.

I just watched that movie again a few weeks ago LOL. I too agree that Sachs & JP are never going away, especially with their stock analysis capability even in a crushed economy I think they would be able to rub out some cash amidst the crash.

Compass isn't on the list. There are others too, not just Desert Schools either. It's in your hands to manage your money, and it's in your hands to support the socialized banks. We all have a choice here. If you think a small bank sucks because they don't have enough options, well BofA, Wells, and all the other crooks used to be small banking institutions too. It has to start somewhere. At least you are acknowledging the situation.

Only 19 votes right now and it's an anonymous poll.

Guess that shows how many people are willing to come clean, huh?

If you're banking with a TARP participant just remember what you're FUNDING. They are using you, however significant or insignificant your portfolio is, to make money after sticking the future generations of America with a big fat bill.

It's just so easy to say "Well, the TARP banks are the only options I have". It's such BS and a total cop-out to play that hand. This is EXACTLY why our government & banking institutions get to walk all over us on a regular basis. It's almost like seeing a guy pissing on your truck tire or slapping your wife on the ass, but nobody gives a shit!

Yeah I didnt think about compass when I was going through the list. But every bank I could think of at the time was on there... I agree it would be nice if everyone told the TARP banks to F*** themselves and went with smaller banks that did not accept the funds. That way the smaller banks would be rewarded for doing the right thing and the TARP banks would get what they deserve. It is an eye opener though when you see that this poll has 19 votes and a poll on which truck is the best gets a couple hundred...
What major banks arent a TARP participant? I voted, and I am WITH a tarp bank.

Forrest you hit it on the head in your post 100% here. That was the point of this poll, to show the lack of care that we are facing in our society. Too many people letting the big brothers of our society walk on our dignity because 'we the sheeple' don't give a shit!! This topic is beyond political lines, it's the future of this place (country) and most don't give a rats ass!! Sheeple and Koolaide are on the rise!

That's the point. Why support the banks that are TARP participants when you have the choice not to. Big banks aren't always the best. Even for money markets, even right now (which nearly all are weak at best), the smaller banks have some competitive options if you are trying to play it safe.

Forrest's most recent post sums it up pretty good too. Like I said already, would you be alright with someone disrespecting you to your face? That's what you are doing by supporting the TARP participants. Remember, that money you deposit into your TARP bank account, gets used to purchase and sell assets to make the bank more profitable. Be it a $50 minimum account balance or $500,000 savings, banks use that cash to make money for THEM. And what exactly did they do with the TARP funs again????? Yup, no answers to that question, good luck finding one too. That's confidential information, with our tax money and future generation's tax money.

I use Arizona Federal. Great Bank/Credit Union
Another great example of a non-participant. This is actually a pretty healthy institution and worthy of looking into.

Sad, how very sad it is...
It was B.O.A. that wanted to extend credit/debit cards to illegals not the C.U.s .

Actually Desert Schools was soliciting illegals at one point. It may have been short lived but they were actually advertising that you could open an account without proof of citizenship. This was years ago but I worked for a bank at the time at I remember it clearly.

Yeah man its that "look the other way" mentality that too many people use when it is more convenient than taking some sort of action...
