Does everyone use the paolmar knot when D/S'ing? I was tying the knot I normally use (Twist it 8 times, then run the line thru the bottom loop) and just made sure the hook was facing up...worked fine for me! Just curious.

I use the Polomar knot too. I've hears some guys talking about the SD knot. Does anyone know about this knot???

I used the palomar knot for eveything but tying my shoes. Its been a great knot for me.

I'm like Mike...I use the palomar on everything I can. The knot you described, Jason, does not sound like a palomar.

I use a palomar knot when using mono or braid. for flourocarbon line, I now use a San Diego knot. I've had too many palomar knots break with this line, no matter how careful I was in tying them. I have yet to have a SD not break. I have also read that several top pros now use a SD knot with flourocarbon lines. John Murray uses a modified one.

yeah the one I tie ISNT a palomar, but it works. The SD sounds kind of cool.

Thanks for the link SteveM!!! I have been using the polomar for everything but I hear this knot is just as good. ??? I don't know for sure but I do know that it's supposed to keep you from breaking line. Thanks again!

I use the San Diego knot on my saltwater trips. It's very similar to a cinch knot, but you make a loop and wind in the opposite way. I think it is also called an inverted cinch?? Anyone know for sure? I do know that it has won numerous competitions for breaking strength. My source is the saltwater forum at allcoast.

I use the San Diego knot, had alot of break-offs on the "old school" clinch knot.......some guy guy showed it to me about 8 years ago on a 2-day trip........been using it ever since.......... :lol:
