The sad fact is that it is actually pretty hard for a cop to catch a drunk driver. Everybody knows that it doesn't take very much alcohol to impair a driver however most people when they are legally drunk don't drive like an epileptic monkey. Some people in fact appear to drive better. That is because they concentrate very hard on what they are doing and keeping under the speed limit and so on. However the same person who has their full concentration on keeping it rubber side down is also not able to keep aware of what is going on around them and if the unexpected happens, they will not have the reaction time act accordingly. So how do you know to pull someone over if they appear to be driving perfectly. There is also the ratio of drunks to cops. For every drunk who is stopped there are probably 25 more who are not. Think about how many people empty out of valley bars every night between the hours of midnight and two.

Ok dudes, drunk drivers kill alot of people, but do agencys really want people to stop drinking and driving? I don't think so....drunk drivers bring in tons of revenue....hell a extreme DUI now will cost you around 6K........I think about it if you get an extreme DUI 1500 goes to the state general fund, 1500 goes the prison construction operating fund, and the rest of the money is like court fees?....I think if DUI's went down the state would look for other sources of revenue like speed cameras, and when goes down seatbelt cameras are next......

I would think the cost of prosecuting 1 xtreme dui would eat most of the profit. The 6k cost to the suspects acts as more of a deterant to future offenses.

Then ya throw in the tax the lawyer pays outta his fee, I'll bet yer 100% right on this one Jamal. All that $$$ goin from the citizen's hand directly to the state.
It's a huge revenue builder. You also gotta count all the $ you gotta pay out for the stupid classes you have to take. Traffic survival school, alcohol classes and all that BS. Then when you do your time you have to pay for that too. Everyone gets rich off of it except the person who gets the DUI.

If the police wanted to catch a bunch of drunk drivers it would be easy. All the cops would have to do is line up next door to a club and wait until closing time. Let 10 cars leave and the first cop follows that group. I guarentee it will be easy to spot a drunk driver in a group of ten. Then the next cop gets his turn when the next ten cars leave. But then no one would go to the club. So booze wins this battle every time. Booze generates tax revenue. The more booze you sell the more tax revenue.
A2020 I believe that might be entrapment. Now if you were wittnessed stumbling around or driving over thecurb as you left, that would be different.
People are drinking less because they are scared to drive. There is less revenue from alcohol taxes so they increase the enforcement and punishment making less people want to drink and drive eventually depleting the resource. Then they will move on to something else to grab revenue from. The smoking ban was the same thing. Let's take smoking out of public places. Next thing you know people smoke less and tax revenue goes way down and we wonder why are state is slowly going broke. What happened to solving a problem by looking at finding a solution by examining the effect so that everyone wins. Acting and then reacting is not very effective.

Have you guys seen that vidio with the old cowboy and the woman cop, she asks him to say the alphabet backwards, and without a flaw he does, then she has him do some damn cheerleading dance, and he does, even adds a few moves, she says he is pretty good, he says, na, I'm just drunk. that was a awsome vidio.
