Novillo or Obregon

Obregon water level is VERY low. A friend of mine just got back from Novillo and said the only place to launch is from the dam. Granted, he launched south of Batuc in primitive stuff that I wouldn't recommend to anyone that is not familiar w/ the area. It's rough stuff. Fishing was just O.K., however, he didn't cover a whole lot of water since he had a small rig w/ a 6 HP outboard. He did say he lost big fish. Bottomline: Do Novy and launch from the dam. Work main lake points w/ plastic and you should do good. Good luck and let us know how it goes. I'll be heading to La Angostura on 1 Sept instead.

I used to fish these lakes every year. Novillo you launch,(BACK) through a tunnel at the dam. no boat rookies allowed. you also have to pass the Federalies in their machine gun nest. I quit doing this when i was robbed at gun point at Baccarac then held hostage for 3 hours. this was about 9 years ago. Frank Kush was in one group Fred Ward was in another along with 2 other groups that were all hearded into a mass, held at gun point and told ( no moeve pinche gringos). GOOD TIMES. never stepped foot back into Mexico. I like to keep even odds when i am out so i like Rosco to be with me. Cant do that in Mexico, only Bad guys have guns. THEY HAVE GUN CONTROL

Big Water Bob

I am from Tucson and fished Obregon in March. At that time it was getting low and they are still draining lake as far as i know. It is an relatively easy 8 hour trip and if you can get in the water then go for it. Email me if you have other Q's. Go Cats.

Novillo or Obregon

I wouldn't try novillo, you have to launch at Batuc and you will tear up your equipment. I talked to Angel at Obregon yesterday (9/20 ), and he said the lake is about twelve feet down, and it is still very hot there, you have to fish real deep. If you want to talk to him his U.S. number is 818-581-4082. If you go be sure to post and let us know how you did.
