I get a chuckle every time someone on this site refers to trout as 'gay bass'. For the record, the world record rainbow trout is 37.5 pounds and record brown is 40.25 pounds. Almost twice the size of the record LMB.

I'm waiting for the day someone that fishes for big flatheads, starts referring to largemouth as 'gay cats'.

It was put in there as a joke when we first set up the board.

we figured when people complained about it , then it would be changed.

I fished for trout all the time and I love trout fishing just not in this state.

I knew I could get a response from Franklin J on this topic. Your comment was quite lucid and somewhat factual, but I know of a trout that trumps your silly stripers --the Taimen.

Taimen, the largest of the salmonid family resides in Siberia and resembles an elongated rainbow trout on steroids. The record Taimen was about 7 ft. long and weighed 231 pounds. 50 pounders are common. They live in beautiful rivers and typically feed on rabbits, prarie dogs, rats, birds, ect.

TOP THAT

One up ...

It sounds like you guys need to go fishing for the Russian Sturgeon. The largest freshwater fish, it can grow to over two thousand pounds. That'll give Jaws a run for it's money. And before you go labeling this bad-boy as just another bottom dweller, remember that a fish that size has to consume enough protein to maintain its prodigious girth. You don't get that from sucking muck from the bottom. Good luck guys. :D
