you wouldnt want to use dry flies unless there is a hatch going on at the moment. If you see fish hitting the surface then use a dry, cast it quickly to the spot you saw the rise. Any dry fly will catch them (these are stupid stocked trout, not smart stream trout) just dont use anything bigger than a size 14. During the day they usually dont go for flies on the surface, use a pecock lady or a wooly bugger with a small split shot 20" ahead of the fly.
