My fish/depthfinder is giving me a false read out of depth. It is consitently off by 20-25 feet. I was just hoping that someone might have had this problem. Let me know if you guys have any ideas before I start replacing stuff. The unit in question is a Humminbird 300TX. Not sure how old it is, but I am guessing 5-8 years old. THX in advance.

i can tell u the problem, its a humminbird,if its not a side imaging model they suck in my opninon
In spite of the wealth of experience that Junior up there has in these matters, the TX series were good units with the early version of side imaging.

Usually it's just a matter of fiddling with the sensitivity, and making sure your transducer is mounted solid.

check in the menu for Keel Offset. Might have something to do with it. I had one come from the factory that was offset 15 feet and it drove me up the wall, till I figured it out. Good luck
DOWNLOAD A OPERATORS MANUEL FROM HUMMINGBIRD WEB SITE IT SHOULD HAVE THE HOW TO CHECK AND FREQUENTLY ASKED PROBLEMS IN IT THAT MIGHT ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. ALSO SOMETIMES THEY HAVE A ANSWER SECTION FOR PROBLEMS. BUT IT DOES SOUND THE WHAT POACHER WAS SAYING.
