First it was AIDS, then the new bird flu or SARS, now it's the new Swine Flu! Just another ploy or diversion tactic for our pathetic government.

My gf works at a doc's office and it is here. I'm not sure but my insurance is gonna cover for those shots. If we ever get them in. Anyone thinking of not getting the shot?

Man, I wish I had that video of George Carlin talking about how we need to get exposed to the germs again!

I havent gotten the flu shot since I got out of active duty and unless the Guard forces me to get it, I wont. As far as I can tell, the only people being seriously affected by this is the very young, very old and those with pre-existing medical conditions. More people have died in one year from the regular influenza virus than the swine flu. Its just another flu virus. I figure if I get it now, it will give me a chance to build anti-bodies to fight it if it comes around again.

I have only had the flu once and it was 6-7 years ago when they did a flu shot clinic where I was working and figured what the hell I may as well get the shot. Two weeks later I was sick as hell for a week...

Nice avatar actually it will be in Obama's address next week. I usually don't buy the hype either but this strein is a nasty bug and adapts.

Dude same thing happend to me last year. haven't gotten a flu shot in since I was like 10 Last year got a free one by my wife's friend whos an RN and 1.5 weeks later i was sick like i've never been sick before missed a whole week of work.

Yeah man its crazy I know of a few people that never had the flu until they got the shot. I will take my chances and stay away from the flu shot...

I'll add to the list here, I know people who get the shot and they get sicker than shit every year. I'm pretty sure I had the flu earlier this year, had a 102-103F temp and was out of work for a week, luckily I can work remotely if need be. I took care of myself with rest, the right foods, minimal off-the-counter meds, and lots of fluids. And most importantly, I didn't go out and expose anybody else to it!! Besides if you do have the flu, what does the doctor tell you to do as long as you don't have pneumonia or bronchitus? To go home, get plenty of rest, drink plenty of liquids, eat right, and avoid exposure to others!!

Ok dudes the service gets everything early, so I'll give you the scoop on the Swine Flu...

1. Get the shot if you can......look for it around the end of the month, it's already been tested, and works...

2. Its pretty bad, affects people 18-45 more than most flus

3. Seems to cause pneumonia faster than most flus

4. Overall it mimics common flu, but people just get alot sicker w/this strain

One of the great fears is what H1N1 might mutate into, but so far it does not seem to be mutating.

Another fear is that being a new strain, more people may catch it then the regular flu. For the few cases that are serious, it seems to have more serious respiratory affects which could start to fill up the ICU units.

It may be another "the sky is falling" non-incident. My friend's wife who works in a hospital thinks it will be a big thing.

I likely won't get the shot as I am not in the high risk group and I rarely get sick and haven't had the flu in years. Of course if I do get it, I will be part of the problem.
