Well it took a good solid day to figure out this place... Started in the main lake fishing points with DS and TR, caught a couple, but not what this lake has to offer. Threw a buzz bait in the back of some of the bays around the tullies had some looks and a few takers but couldn't get any of them back to the boat. Went in for lunch looked at the map again and decided that I was going to run up river, not to keen on this idea with the sand bars. I waited for a nice large deep drafting ski boat and followed them about 3 miles up river. The wife was throwing a crank bait and I was DS and TR. She kept having fish follow. I took the DS rod threw it in the rod locker and tied on a jerk bait. I have no confidence in this bait at all, third cast hooked up and game on! We manged a mix bag of smallies, largies and stripers and one 1.5 blue gill for the day. The water temp in the main lake is 89 deg. We found spots in the river where it was only 72 deg. Huge temperature change and huge change in fish behavior! Cool water = wide open bite! Black Fish Fishing Tail Fisherman

The first fish is a redear sunfish, just for your info. Nice catch.
NICE gill!!!
Look at the size of that damn bluegill! Ones that big would be a blast on some ultralight gear
There are sunfish like that and bigger all over this lake. The Colorado river record is from here and that is over 3.54lbs

Looks to be a bluegill to me. No red around the ear:D
Dude that gill is perfect skillet size. I got a buddy who likes the big gills to eat better than crappie. He scales them and the cooks em whole beer battered up in butter flavored crisco.

+1 with Dan, looks like a redear to me, they don't always have the red on the opercular lobe. Need to have it in hand to be sure though.
