help with tilt/trim motor replacement

367 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  FLHX
I'm replacing the tilt/trim motor on my old nissan outboard. My question is how do I bleed the system after it's installed? I don't see any bleed fittings like you would find on a brake system. Do I just keep filling the resevior while running it up and down? Do I try to pre-charge the ram before connecting the lines to the pump? Should I run the t/t motor or move the outboard up and down manually till the system is charged? Thanks in advance of any advise.

Fill the reservoir, run it all the way up and all the way down. It should self bleed.

You may have to add more fluid to get proper service/level.
Thanks for the info LowerUnit...had to help it up the first time by pulling on the outboard with the t/t motor running. ran it back down, refilled the reservoir, and it worked fine after that.
