I Abused the Lake Pleasant 45 Minute Rule

So this morning I find myself over at Lake Pleasant with out boat.

I usually make it a point to visit the HookUp and walk the place before making the commute back to Mesa. So heading through the Pleasant Harbor gate I am hit up for the $6.00 entry fee and tell the lady that I am heading to the HookUp and she replies you have 45 minutes.

Well I was in there for an hour fifteen minutes. I drop a little over $250 this morning on a few items that they had and I been wanting. Picked up a pair of the Kaenon Kore sunglasses, sweet and the HookUp also knocks off 20%. I am admiring the custom painted baits that Forrest Webb has there too. Really nice work and the details is nothing short of awesome.

Ok so I pick up a few DD22 that I had been wanting for a while. New pattern. A couple bags of Yamamoto BIG worms, a few packs of Robo's and a couple LC Jerkbaits.

So I am heading out the gate to get my $6.00 back and the lady at the gate is a little upset that I abused their 45 minute rule. I said I was supporting the business there and dropped a nice small bankroll. No difference I am getting the lip from her no matter if I want to hear it or not. I said sorry it's tough to go in there and not enjoy looking, buying and chatting with the guys.

So why was I at lake Pleasant without a boat. Well Canyon Bass was doing their Federation support project and we had a trash pickup in Fireman's cove. We picked up trash for several hours, from a brake drum to golf ball, carpet to a pair of sneakers set neatly next to a Saguaro. We must have bagged 20 bags of trash. Then there was stuff I had to drive over and pickup like several large pieces of carpet. Now considering that Canyon Bass did not have a tournament on this lake this year. It was good Karma to support the outdoors.

I mentioned this to the lady at the gate was her reply was that was on the other side of the lake and meant nothing.

So I am really sorry I abused the 45 minute rule.

Bob shame on you, you're lucky the Harbor Patrol didn't come over for the $2K fine, I heard it applies to abusing the 45 minute rule also. I'll bet your post will just make John's day.
Bob, Sorry you had to get any lip from the gate people. We are always having to correct them on the time thing. It's actually an hour not forty five minutes, and if your in the store over an hour we can sign your entry receipt and your good to go. We really appreciate the business and hope her sour attitude wont keep you away. If anyone has any trouble getting their money back from the gate people just let us know and we will take care of it. Thanks again!

John
John, It's all good. You guys run a great business (Both in the store and on-line too) and I got a laugh from her lip service. It just is not a good trip to Lake Pleasant without making a stop at the HookUp. I am looking froward to putting those Kaenon Kore's to use.

Was that you heading in as I was leaving the parking lot around 10AM?

You will like those glasses dude. I got a pair and they blow away all the pairs of costa del mars, Bolle, Oakley and Maui Jims I have had
That was me dragging it in late:biggrin: I stayed until 11 last night and it was tough getting started this morning. I think you will like the Kaenons, I switched from Maui Jims to Kaenon a couple of years ago.

John, you showed me a pair back when I was there for the CAST event back in April (You gave me about 25 emergency Pancho's for the kids because it was raining so bad that morning). When I put the Kaenon on again this morning my eyes opened and I could not believe how cleaner my sight focus was. The image of details seemed to sharpen up. Looking forward to the water.
that lady in the morning always has an attitude "bitch" you go in the evening even to launch and the old guys that work are cool and bs with you, that lady probably had a long night out on the "harbor patrol" boat.

when we were in the HU we kept looking at our watch and when we made it out with like 2 mins to spare on the 45min rule she kept looking at the clock and the parking stub like she was pissed.
I really hope that with all the BS that the private marina puts everyone through that you guys might consider a move to a better part of the lake where you are more accessible and just as appreciated. You guys have a great shop and one of the best selections of gear anywhere here in the valley. I love walking through and dreaming about how nice it would be to own all that stuff and have it on my dream boat. Ahhhhh maybe one of these days. Keep up the good work!
