Is a Tonto Pass needed at Bartlett?

3580 Views 44 Replies 19 Participants Last post by  johnr
I was thinking of taking me son to Bartlett today for the first time and was wondering if a Tonto Pass or anything else is required? If a Tonto Pass is not required are there any other fees?

Thanks

Buy one at the Circle K in cavecreek. Make sure you get a sticker for your boat too.
Looking online it appears the boat sticker is a one time buy...and the pass I have to buy each time I go(or buy an annual pass). Is that correct?
No - boat sticker for each pass. Best bet is to get Tonto annual permit for less than $100. Unlimited use for 12 months from purchase. (At AZ Fish & Game)

But wait until December to buy, you get an extra month added to the 12 month permit..
Ok...Thanks.

Are the annual passes for one year from date of purchase or is it like a fishing license where I would have to buy another one after the new year?
Year from date of purchase...
Year from date of purchase...
Did this change? I thought it was only good until end of each calander year?
Buy the annual pass if you plan on hitting the lakes 10 or more times a year. The cost is $95.00. This pass is not good for Alamo or Pleasant.

Annual pass is good for 12 months from the date of purchase.
Dudes, here is how it works. What ever month you pass the pass in, its good through the end of that month, the following year. So if you buy it on 9-1-09 its good until 9-30-2010. Then in 2010 you buy it on 10-1, that's how you get 13 months per annual pass.

Also, you buy the pass at a Tonto National Forest office, not Game & Fish.
if you haven't left for the lake you can get the daily or yearly pass right there at the TNF office, after you turn off of cave creek road onto bartlett lake road on the left side in about 1/4 mile is the forest service office, they can tell you all the info for daily or yearly passes.

have fun
Thanks Fishless....I know the place you are talking about....I think I am going to just get the day pass for now.
or you can wait and see if you get a ticket for 12.00 dollars and pay that if you get caught.
The Annual Tonto Pass is only $15 and is a sticker you put on your windshield. The catch is that you have to buy the National Interagency pass first for $80. If you already have one of these, it will only be $15 bucks. Many people actually have the $80 pass because it gets you into all of the fee based national parks. Don't try to be cheap and find someone who has the $80 pass to go buy you the sticker. You have to display both when at the lake.

Mt ticket was 25 dollars. I did have a pass I just forgot to scratch the numbers off. The same guy that gave me the ticket came by camp later on and asked if I scratched it off. i told him I would do it tommorrow...: Jerk-it
Four Sons on Carefree hiway also sells Tonto passes.
If you are over 65 you get a life time card to hang on your mirror. And you only have to buy the 15.00 tonto pass.

Is the tonto pass good for a year (not that I would qualify for the 65+)?
