im looking for a gun like a ranche rifle .223 or something? i need something thats not going to be espinsive to go shoot but yet still have alil knock down power and that can make a 150 200 yard shot.

nice varmt guns, but a waste for varmits over 50 yards and the ammo is expensive.
.223 in a bolt action or single shot is your best bet, its cheap and the ammo is cheap.

.223 if you can find it, and it's not as cheap as it was. All the chicken little's gobbled them up when they thought "the sky is falling" back in Jan. of this year
I bought a used Ruger mini-30 with a leupold scope on it and that was used for varmint hunting. Plenty accurate for the shots you are talking about and fairly cheap.

I have all the calibers listed including the 223 WSSM. The 17 is a great round out to maybe 75 yards tops for dog's, (as del stated) but a blast to shoot. The 223 in bolt action will be your cheapest to shoot. Best all around would be the 22 250. Best for numerous loads and not that expensive to shoot if you reload. My favorit however is my 223 WSSM. Unless you reload it is expensive and they are picky about barrels heating up if you shoot a bunch of rounds in a row. You also have to stay on top of cleaning the bore. So what does all that mean. If I was going to buy one gun it would be a 22 250 in my opinion only. Savage makes about the most accurate gun out of the box for the price, If you don't mind an action that is a little rough then they aren't bad. The Tika T III is also another gun I realy like Janet shoots one of these and is totaly sold on it. Anyway hope this helps a little.

i've shot a lot of fox and yotes with the 22/250 so i say +1
Not selling the mini since I had an italian folding stock put on it and have 2000 rounds of ammo for the bunker.
Be a man and get a 300 win mag or 300 ultra mag and shoot them out to 1000 yards.

Then when the buzzards show up, you go out about 300 yrds and see if you can hit them while thier chowing down on the yote...
