letter to Paul Bowen new director of MBC
Paul, Lets put all B.S aside. I've heard a lot of talk about MBC. There is no boat for the championship this year, the anglers of the year didn't get the rods, thier entries aren't paid for next year, the sponsors have pulled thier sponsorship because they had an arrangement with Randy, not MBC etc., etc.. Please get on AZ BASS ZONE and read some of this for yourself. On the letter from the tournament director on this very page it says EVERYTHING WILL BE THE SAME. If in fact everything is the same as your letter says then I suggest you get on the web site and quiet some of these rumors. If in fact the rumors are true then be man enough to tell everyone that you bought the company in a downturned economy and what you thought you were going to be able to do is not going to be possible. That way we can go on to different circuits and give you a few years to get stuff set up. You see Paul, my partner and I were the last team to win a boat in the Ray Hill era that was all bullshit. I even sold my certificate to someone and then a couple weeks later found out it was no good. Ray even took monies from us for the first years insurance that we ended up rebuying. Thank god for fair people like Keith Tripp who had bought S.W. Boats from Ray Hill. I went and explained to Keith what had happened and he sold me a boat for his cost, that way it only cost my partner Guy Zamudio and I about $1500.00 each for us to make it right with the guy I sold the worthless certificate to. Unlike Ray Hill I could not intentionally screw someone over and still sleep at night. So you see why I may seem a little skeptical. Anyway I get home on friday afternoon and leave shortly after noon on Sunday due to work obligation. Yes it is my first post. First time I really had anything worthwhile to say. This was a copy of my e-mail to Paul that I sent today. But if anyone thinks we are fishing for another pretend boat they are full of sh--!

yea guys i know clayton and he has fished the az tourney circuits for years, he is a guy that walks softly but carries a big stick so don't give him any shit for not having a lot of posts on here, i don;t believe that is a requirement to be on the zone. go get them clayton-richards dad.

I dont feel comfortable answering all the questions but for number 3 I would say that Paul does not deserve to be attacked for what was done before he took over. However it is now his circuit and he needs to communicate a little better about what is going to happen. I have heard rumors that he is trying to rectify the situation with money out of his pocket which I do not think he should have to do. I am not even sure if those rumors are true but if they are someone needs to tell Paul to just come out and apologize for the confusion (which was the fault of the previous director and the "unofficial MBC website") and try to do better and be more clear next year...Questions?

Like I said in another post. This is not Paul's fault. With that being said, someone needs to step up to the plate and explain what has happened. The longer it goes on the worse it gets. I know some will respond that Paul doesn't need to explain. That's bullshit! Randy wasn't the best communicator but that doesn't excuse the fact that this was not handled correctly. A little letter explaining the reasons for this and maybe some suggestions about how to make it a win win for everyone would have been nice. Instead, we get to look at all these opinion posts with no response from either party. Somebody step up to the plate and say something. I have enjoyed fishing MBC over the years and would like to continue, but if this is how you run a business I don't know.Some people on this site our quick to defend, but if you owned a business and ran it like this your customer base would disappear. This is part of the passion of fishing. We look forward to it and believe that we can succeed. We are enticed to participate with the promise of making the top teams,told we must fish so many tournaments in order to fish for a Championship, which in the past has been for a Boat. If not a Boat what was the incentive? Was the prize money to be anything extra than any other tournament? Again we have no answer to any of these things because the people involved either won't respond or just don't give a Sh*t! JMFO::beatingdeadhorse:

Paul also has his Phone number listed to call him if you have any questions, just click COntact info.
Paul works his butt off during the day so I would call him after 3-4pm, dont listen to rumors get it from Paul. He is a straight shooter and will answer your questions.

Seriously Del everyone is wondering why your constantly trying to cover Paul's ass ? Did you and him have a serious bromance and are just used to covering each others ass's ?

When The MBC acquisition went threw Paul pretty much bought the MBC name, assets and liabilities. When He did this he was fully responsible for the content of the MBC web site. So everything that Randy had on his 2008/2009 MBC web site Paul is responsible for .
Paul Also allowed this to be posted on his home page of MBC
If everything is going to be the same, then where is the boat and the items for the AOY ?
If Paul knew he could not get a boat for the championship he should have had his web site reflect that rather than saying" everything will be the same "
Now with that being said, As you know Paul is not mantaining the mbc web site. The sag **** are. Could this whole ordeal be caused by clueless clowns writing on the mbc web site what they want it to say and Paul not following up with it ? I think this whole problem could be stemmed by the guys mantaining the mbc web site and its pauls fault for not following up and proof reading what the clowns wrote on behalf of him..

Come on any one knows with half a brain knows that when you say "Nothing is going to change EVERYTHING is going to be just as it was"
and there is no boat or powell rods , that everything will not be the same and thats false advertisement to better market the tournament to draw more boats per tournament.

Letter From the Owner/Tournament Director
I am writing to introduce myself; my name is Paul Bowen and I’m the new owner and Tournament Director of Monterey Bass Company. Some of you may know who I am especially if you fished the MBC Super Teams or Senior Teams as I’m the guy who stood by Randy at the scales and took your fish for the last few years. And for those of you who don’t I’m looking forward to meeting you at the tournaments.
I know I have some big boots to fill and will make sure these tournaments are run as honest and fair as they have in the past and have a good time.
Nothing is going to change EVERYTHING is going to be just as it was.
If you add the years Randy and I have at Tournament Directing we would maybe qualify for the senior circuit and we both think exactly the same on what goes on at a weigh-in.
God Bless you Randy and Fran; you both will be missed Good luck in life’s new adventures and that’s about as mushy as I get.

i wonder if he was trying to say nothing going to be the same in terms of how weigh in goes, i have been in some that have had lets just say"shady measuring and poor event running". they could always be counted on running a str8 shot tourny that even if you left you knew it wasnt shady. i think that was what was meant or at least thats how i took it when i read it the first time my self. that does suck about the boats and the rods.hope it gets resolved in a manner expected and respected. alright to be angry and upset as long as we all keep respect for the sport and those who run it.
The boat for the championships has just been purchased and will be at the tournament for the whinners. Good Luck Guys!!![]()
