Wow,those are some nice pics, hopefully we will get a response from lotsa luck.He post some good pics as well.Thx........
cool pics, think Bob has the hummingbird version of the side scan
Those pics should be of great value to the guys that do not understand what they are looking at on there depth finders. Really neat stuff!!
In my opinion this looks way better than the hummingbird. I like how you can have the screen orientated top side up so you don't have to look at a sideways image even though it looks like you can only view one side of the boat at a time in that mode. I wonder how much they will cost.
I've been interested in side imaging for the past two years. H-bird has been the leader thus far, it would be interesting if Lowrance hits a home run with the new units.

My style of fishing has always been shallow, I would buy a unit that highlightes the fish tight to structure straight infront of the boat.

I have a 102C on the front and it works great, but that's below the boat. I want to see the fish react to jerk baits, topwater, and do-nothing baits infront of my boat. JMHO

If Lowrance hits a home run??? Its outa the park man. Lowrance has set the benchmark for all other side imaging sonar units to follow. Stay tuned.....humming what?????
I seen some pics on the BBC last week...

To me it looks about the same as Humminbird, I'm sure they use the same technology

Hopefully the Lowrance Unit will be easier to use than the Humminbird....

Not likely franklin.. That would be like saying Intel and Amd use the same technology and it aint even close...

Well I think this is different because Humminbird has had thier unit out for a few years....Lowrance IMHO is already behind the power curve....

Well it's good they have competition now so it can only get better and the prices shouldnt be too high.
The new Lowrance HD's need some more time to work the bugs out. We have gotten quite a few back at Basspro, even had to send a some back before we even sold them, due to defects... They will figure it out, pretty cool technology
The down scan is sick man..I wonder if they will come out with a unit with just the down scan also I think that the screen color is easer on the eyes than the Hummingbird blue screen.

+1
I have nothing but Lowrance on the boat, but they did get a slow start out of the gates on this technology, so hopefully like it was said before, competition makes better units and the pricing should come down.... hopefully

Not true..Lowrance and Bottom Line both had side finders years ago (early 90s).It just didn't take off and was dropped from there product line due to poor sales. That is why Lowrance held off,to see if the technology would be profitable enough in the long run to reintroduce with refinements.Basically they let Hummingbird take a chance on acceptance this time.
I've been watching the Lowrance side scan for a while and pretty interested but thus far I've been less than impressed. I just don't see the picture being any better than the Humminbird, not that its bad at all and I love the side scan's, just don't see it any better yet and the price is huge! For now I'll stay with the Humminbirds.
I remember Floyd Preas strapping a transducer to a broomstick. The man was ahead of his time.

I stand corrected. The 90's version had color on the down scan and forward view? H-Bird has monochrome. I know years ago Joe Owens was sponsored by Bottom line and he had the forward view, but the pictures he had on his screen were nothing like you see on H-Birds version. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Maybe if my trolling motor is doubled jointed, I could bend it forward and get that affect? :)
Do the side scanners work as well with through the hull transducers?
