Tube baits rigged on a tube jig with the lead head inside the tube don't "click" either. Of course those don't work, so don't bother with them.
Then there are Senkos. No lead to click on the bottom either. Don't bother with them either, they don't work.
Both ot the above baits will frequently be hit while they are falling. A Westy, so I'm told, will also frequently be hit on the fall. Maybe the new style Westy works better on the fall? Maybe there are times when the bite is real tough when clicking noises actually prevent bites?. Why modify the new style Jason? If you want a clicking noise use the old style.
