I was just curious why the Sheriff's boats aren't on the water at Saguaro anymore. I haven't seen one on the water since the last OUI checkpoint. Given the benefit of the doubt, are the boats broken down? I also haven't seen the Sheriffs around the Blue Point Bridge. So... if the officers aren't on the lake, and they're not at the river or on Bush Highway, where is our "Lake Patrol?"
Just fyi... there's a lot more boat traffic now than there was a month ago. I think everybody's getting out as much as possible before winter comes. I saw some really stupid stuff out there this morning. C'mon 50 degree water!
I have seen the Forest Service boat several times. Any input? Does September end the tour of duty for the year? Is it a summer job? I'll probably ask again at the next Roundtable next week. We did get to eat at the marina Friday and got to sit at the Sheriffs' table!! That's what our server told us. NightRanger, this isn't personal.
Boat Cop, you're still patrolling Bartlett every weekend?

Spent 10 hours on Barlett today, stopped 12 boats wrote 6 tickets. I got most of them trained. it is really slowing down on the lakes now and no we are on lake patrol all year. our priorities start shifting this time of the year towards hiking and 4x4 rookies. when it starts to cool down people start using the forest areas and getting lost, hurt, stuck and dead. On lake patrol the entire forest is our responsibility. any crime committed or call for service, we have to resond to. we not only patrol the water, but also the forest land within Maricopa County. For instance, my Beat area is about 600 square miles. Rio verde to the county line north and west of seven springs to the mountain range east of Bartlett lake. I get alot of helicopter rides. and as for the boats, they are dying. i got 3 broken ones at Barlett now. my last one sunk on my days off. water was 1 inch from going over the transom. we also do all the DUI task forces they have in the winter time and because we are first resopnders, we go to most critical incidents where they need bodies quickly. we also dive for all the bodies and conduct evidence searches underwater. we are not busy much at all.

The new boat house at Saguaro needed some repairs that we saw when it was finished. Sooo we had to pull the boats out of the water. As of 09/15/03 repairs were done and the boats are back in. As far as not seeing anyone. Well Boat Cop i think will agree with me. No overtime allowed due to funds that ran out. So anytime in court or calls outs in the middle of the night or anything else that goes on we have to flex off  . I agree I've seen a few things from the dam and wanted to grab my ticket book and start writing.
