34 teams fished the inaugural Ranger Owner Open on Sunday at Lake Pleasant. It was a great event and many thanks to SouthWest Boats, owner Steve Molinari, Randy and his MBC tournament team for making it happen! Everyone got Ranger gifts, good food, and best of all it was 100% payback with payouts down to 10th place thanks to Steve and SouthWest Boats contributing additional cash! Hefty individual plaques were awarded to the top 5 teams and Big Fish winner. Steve's planning on doing it again next year and it will be a bigger and an even better event.
As for the fishing? I think both quantity of fish and weights were down from the MBC tourney on Saturday and many of us fished both Saturday was calm, cloudy and rainy but Sunday produced partly cloudy in the am with a little breeze, then sun, then more clouds and wind later in the day. Whether it was the conditions or just Lake Pleasant being itself; fishing was tougher on Sunday. We didn't fill our limit out until just before 2pm on Sunday, but my partner George put a 2.76 in the boat early (good for 3rd place in big fish)
to give us 8.15 lbs and 6th place. Winning weight was 9.13 lbs and you needed 7+ lbs to get in the top 10.
It was good getting together and meeting other Ranger owners, seeing Steve and Randy out on the water BS'ing with everyone. I got to sit and chat with Lone Ranger and finally got to meet Joe Owens. Nice talking with you guys!
