We fished Thursday from 10:45 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. and caught 18 good sized crappie. We were again trolling tandem 1/8th ounce jig rigs in 20 to 26 feet of water east of Windy Hill. The weather front was rapidly moving in the last hour.......Art
Thanks, Jeff. I had my 4 1/2 year old grandson, Kasey, along and he is very good at locating and catching big crappie. If you don't believe me, just ask him!! I wish I could post some pictures of him at "work" but my webtv won't let me do it...Art
No, one of the drawbacks of webtv is I can receive most pictures but I can't put up any. I will have my neighbor send you a few next week. Kasey is a little kid around the house but he takes his fishing pretty seriously. In the past couple of months he has caught two 2 pound crappie, his first over the slot largemouth, and his first fish on a spoon. He's pretty good with the net, and unhooks and handles the fish. He doesn't like flatheads though!! He runs the trolling motor if I'm otherwise occupied and can't read yet, but can tell fish on my X-15. His apprenticeship is coming along just fine.....Art
I'm a bad one to ask since I have been doing just about all crappie fishing lately. But, from past expiereance, in shallow water I like in-line spinners like the yellowjacket or Panther Martin and if the water is real choppy, I prefer crankbaits. For deeper presentation it's hard to beat spoons if the fish are semi-aggressive and jigs and double hook worms for a slower presentation.....Art
