Saguaro Sat

Fished Saguaro sat from 5:30 am to 2 pm. caught 15. only 1 fish over the slot. most were dinks. caught them on tw, cranks, and mostly drop shot. I think the crankbait bite will really pick up from what I can tell. Got on a half decent wall bite meeting "cterryfish" up the river. We had some fun with that for awhile... It was a different bite than a week ago Saturday when I caught 10 little footballs all at the top of the slot on mostly tr.

I lost my mind for a few minutes when I showed up in the morning. There was a big ski boat tied to the outside dock and all three lanes at Ramp 2 were loading bass boats. After I dumped in the water in the dark, I had to tie up to the dock on the inside fearing for my boat's life- because a ski boat with sleeping kids was taking most of the dock space on the outside. (This followed one of my last Saguaro experiences when kids in a ski boat were overnight parked on the ramp waiting for the sun to come up or their first bong hit- whichever came first. :bong:) I yelled at this damn kid- the unfortunate one sleeping outside- "TIME TO WAKE UP. NEXT TIME I'M GOING TO HAVE MY SHERIFF FRIEND GIVE YOU A TICKET FOR OCCUPYING THE PUBLIC DOCK." I must have yelled that 4 times. Of course, the kid comes back with- "There's no sign here- so it's legal." I thought, "THERE'S NO SIGN ABOUT ME TAKING OFF ONE INCH OF YOUR SCALP WITH THIS ZARA SPOOK." Anyway, maybe he got the point. I guess I didn't give a shit either when I was a kid- but they could have had their rig in the parking lot and it would have cost them 15 minutes without inconveniencing the world. Saturday was a crazy day at the derby. When I was coming back in, I was hugging the right shoreline coming thru the narrows past Shipriock. There was a big ski cruiser coming right at me on the same line- not budging until I jerked it to the left and he did the same. The guy must have his driver's license from England. I yelled WTF at him. He was clueless. : Jerk-itTerry said the same thing happened to him with a couple water fleas coming at him on a direct line and crash and burn mission. :whiteflag

I guess that kind of stuff didn't matter to me either 20 years ago when I had a ski boat and a tub of jungle juice on board. But it just seemed another level of crazy on saturday...

I was in a freaking class all day Sat., so F - YOU very much for rubbing in the fact that you were fishing again and I was not. JFWYD...sounds like a good time minus the usual lake lice crap. Just think, before you know it, it will cool down and we will have way fewer scumbags on the water. I'm looking forward to it!

im lookin forward to no lice neither :)
We got to Saguaro at around 1 AM on Saturday morning and those idiots in the ski boat were tied up on the outside of the dock then also. They must have stayed there all night if you saw them at 5:30. There were some people sleeping in the front of the boat and we were not quiet about launching our boat.

It was our first time at Sag so we were taking it easy because we didn't know where we were going. As we were cruising across the main lake at about 30 mph we passed a small aluminum boat about 30 feet to our right side that didn't have any lights on. I about $hit myself when we passed him becasue I didn't see him at all. It would have been a mess if we would have hit those guys. I was pissed as hell at the thought of possibly running those guys over. It scared the crap out of me.

We fished until about 10 then decided to head back as the lake lice were getting pretty thick and the ski boats were being a pain in the ass. We got back to the ramp and there was a waiting line to launch. We were waiting our turn and there was this guy and his wife launching there jet ski's. We got a pretty good laugh out of that what a circus that was. How damn hard can it be to launch two jet ski's. It takes the lady about 10 minutes to get her's off the trailer. Then the guy is in the water up to his chest pushing his off the trailer and the wife is just sitting there watching him fumble his way around trying to get his off the trailer. We both got a good laugh out of it. It was worth the wait as the ski boat that was launching next was full of nice looking young ladies.

I could go and have fun just watching all of these idiot's at the boat ramp. I guess I am spoiled at Rosey as we almost never have to wait to launch.

Thanks for the report!
I'll be on Rosey tomorrow!:moon:
Those near collisions will make you pucker up. I don't know why people insist on being out there without lights on. If your lights were not working wouldn't you stay close to shore?

I was out there early a couple of months ago and there was a dude in a kayak out in the middle of the lake, they are hard enough to see in the daylight.

I wonder how a collision at night would play out in court? Would the guy with no lights on lose? or would the speed of the other boat be a factor? Just wondering.
The crankbait bite was pertty damn good about this time last year. Should be pretty good this year with the lake coming back and all.

Baby Bass Norman middle N & Excalibur pearl Fat Free shad suspending cranks. Work that point adjacent to the snags that leads into the North shore coves. Have a Zoom, thin Pearl ice fluke nose-hooked on a 1/0 Gammy Octopus hook. I like a 1' leader tied with a barrel swivel to cut down on the line twist. Keep that at- the- ready- at -all- times, when the boils start, lay down the crank rod down and throw the fluke!

You'll need a fast tipped 7' rod so you can cast a long cast out to the boils. Just twitch it back slowly and you will crush them!

When I mean at- the- ready, that rod is propped up, close by, with the bait hanging down loosely from the rod tip, ready to be casted in two seconds!Just my experience....tightlines!!RB:)
I got to the lake around 8pm Friday night and waited for the storm and rain to blow through. After that it was beautiful out. Launched at 9 and I got off the water at 1:30am, That boat was parked on the dock. To make it worse, he was blaring country music. Isn't it against the uninforced rules to tie up and stay there? Oh yeah, this is a fishing post. I didn't catch a lot of fish (5) but the smallest was 2 and 1/2 pounds, biggest was just over 3. Had a catfish on, or it seemed like a catfish because it submarined out into the deep and just came unbuttoned.

So how did the orientation ride go for the first time dog.
Sally (Newbie) really liked walking around the lake waiting for the storm to blow through. Baxter alway sits next to me when we are driving and Sally sat on her haunches next to him, with her paws on his shoulders. Her head was directly above him and it looked funny as hell, watching their ears sticking straight out. When I was fishing, she checked out the entire boat. He would look over the side, probably wondering where all the water came from. She did one thing that Baxter never did. She got into it when I boated fish. She had no clue what the hell it was, but liked the smell. That was something Baxter never gave a crap about.
I just got off the phone with the Sheriff's Office because this thing still has me pissed off. Tieing to the dock without intention to launch in a timely fashion as well as parking on the ramp is in fact ILLEGAL and citations will be written for this. The Sheriff- who was super cool and a fellow fisherman- said get the number and description of the boat/ boaters (or sleepers) and call it in. They will be cited. And they can be cited after the fact...
I will be there again on Friday night. I will have my pen and paper ready. A few years ago I had a boat full of fools run right past me while I was fishing. I was only about 30 feet from the shore and there was plenty of room outside of me. BUT NOOOOO, they had to cruise by, full speed, big waves and everything, between me and shore. When I saw him coming, I grabbed my camera and took a picture. I enlarged it on a photo copier and put it in a nice plastic sheet. I posted that picture on the bulletin board by ramp to. I said something like, Watch out for this a--hole!

Next time cut their rope or untie it and give their boat a shove.

That would have been funny but there were people sleeping right in the front of the boat with there legs hanging over the side. I made a shit load of noise when I launched my boat and started the motor at 1 AM. If I would have tried to untie or cut the rope those idiots probably would have shot me for messing with them.

While fishing a week ago, that sheriff pulled up right next to the boat and all he asked was, "How's fishin?"
