I fished with my Dad this morning from about 6:00-11:15. I only took one largemouth but it was a nice fish, 5.1 pounds. It came very early on in the morning and I had a couple others on throughout the day but they came unbuckled on the way to the boat. We got to talk to Rippinlips and Walkerdawg, also we saw fish-head and bone-head fly by but didn't get to talk to them. A slow but fun morning on the water. Josh

Josh, the story of the day was missed hooksets. I missed 3 rico fish and I haven't missed one of those for quite a while. 2 of those were on consecutive casts into a cut in the no wake zone. I also missed a couple senko fish among others. Dawg did too. The way I look at it, we fished differently quite a bit yesterday to get more familiar with different stuff, so that made the day worth it. The other thing is that if a fish is so small that it can't eat my bait, I didn't want it anyway! I'm like Bayou in that way. Like he said, I'd rather have one 5 pounder than 5 one pounders. The smallest topwater fish I've caught lately has been about 3 pounds. The next smallest was 3-10. I'm pretty sure we could catch more fish if we went to something else but the topwater fish have been bigger. JMHO. Good to see you guys yesterday and congrats on the 5 pounder.

Way to go Josh! Nice fish! (Hey, everyone else said it! ) Glad you got to get out and show the old timers how it's done. :p

Hey Jim, they key on those Ricos is to throw them into the trees and YANK em back with a little force. Takes a little practice but before long you'll start getting those hooksets! Oh wait! You already got THAT hookset, didn't you?!
