Did the Tri fecta last week, 3 lakes in 3 days with Mark R. Headed to San Carlos on Wednesday night and fished from 7:00 PM till 11:00 PM till we couldn't take the frosty conditions and no fish in the boat. Headed out again Thursday morning and fished from 7:30 AM till 1:00 PM and still no fish, cold front must have really turned them off, mainly fished the deeper water up by the dam and neither of us could get a bite. Went to Apache Thursday afternoon and was able to coach a 3.5 lb smallie on a popper and Mark R found a few festy bluegills.....The night bite was non existent. Fished part of the day Friday and did not find another fish, a lot of wind and some clouds, typically great conditions but the fish were not intersted. Went up to Roosie about 3:00 PM and fished until 11:00 PM, betwen the two uf us caught 12 in the late afternoon and night on topwater, cranks, and T-rigged worms. Did notice all the shad in the lake in the evening move in to gorge themselves on all the bugs just above the water and the topwater action was good. It looked like it was raining on the water with all the shad dimpling the surface a neat site. Must have been a couple of tourney's going on Saturday because the boat traffic was 10X over what it was on Friday but this was the best day between drop shotting, cranks, and topwater we coaxed about 35 fish from 7:30 AM until 6:00 PM. This lake has gotten worse then Bartlett in terms of size because out of those fish only had one at 2lb and another at 1.5 lb and the rest are rats. Oh well sure beats getting blanked on the day.
