I read the post about buying a Bait Caster. I got out of the Milatary back in the early 80's. Once I got home I started to fish tournaments in the area. I moved to Phoenix in 90 and fished a few tournaments with a club called the West Side Bassmasters but had to stop after I got my present job due to not having weekends off. This has changed the last year and I am back to fishing again and having a blast. I still fish the orignal bait caster's I bought in the 80's. Does anyone remeber these? I have 1 Shimano Bantam 10Xsg, 2Shimano B-100Mag, and 1 Shimano Bantam Magnumlite Speed Master. All work well still to this day. I keep them clean and oiled after all these years. I even have 2 Shimano Bull Whip Rods I still fish with along with the rest of my arsenal.
Every once in a while I get weird looks and asked what I am fishing with and I tell them. I get a few laughs and few have told me I need to put them up and save them due to being antiques.
I don't know guys and gals....think I need to update?

Hey NightRanger, I don't know how anybody feels and frankly I don't really care. When something works for me, I stick with it. If you like what you have and are comfortable with your equipment, then by all means.....stick with your stuff! That being said, the new stuff is great too! After reading RippinLips post, I just might have to get that BPS deal on page 37 also! Of course I'd have to get the wife's permission first! LOL! Inside joke...... Ouch.......I was just kidding honey........ I knew you were watching my post the whole time! Owwww....Quit it!........ etc.

I had a Bantam 10X Mag - with the Fighting Star... LOL! I think it was called the 10X Mag. It was 10X something, that's for sure. For some reason, that line, "with the Fighting Star", stuck in my mind...LOL! I tossed mine out about a year and a half ago when it needed some work. ...if I'd been reading AZBP then, I would have known they could get fixed. I bought mine when I was still in the service and I bought it at a (see if anyone remembers these...) K-Mart, in El Cajon CA. I think it was 1989 or 90 and I paid about $95.00 for it. I had it on a "top end" Zebco rod which was actually my favorite rod until I broke it bringing in my biggest fish. It was a carp, the length of my leg. I still have 2 older bantam reels, a Bantam B-110 and a Bantam Mag Plus.

Ah... JohnSWA is just trying to be nice. I'd throw away both of my Bantam (110 and Mag Plus) for a good used Curado in a heart beat...
