Maricopa County Sheriff's Office deputies detained more than 100 people early Thursday in what officials described as an identity-theft raid at a south Phoenix paper company.

Deputies served a search warrant at the company at 711 N.17th Ave., near 17th Avenue and Fillmore Street, as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged employer-sanction violations at Royal Paper Converting Company.

Nearly 100 employees are believed to be in possession of stolen or fraudulent identification, according to the Sheriff's Office.

"This is the second time in 12 months that this company has been the focus of employer sanctions investigations by the Sheriff's Office," Maricopa County Deputy Lindsey Smith wrote in an e-mail.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is expected to address the investigation later today.

Oh no, not Sheriff Joe picking on brown skin people again. It's ok that they have possible stolen ID and this employer knew of this too but in the past 12 months been busted twice. Let's not seperate the familys of hard working criminals causing them stress while the real owner of those ID's have their life's turned upside-down and inside-out and have to prove that it was not their fault. Where is our compassion and caring?
