Hey fellas...
Being from Upstate NY, the smallmouth fishing is unreal...there is no place that holds a decent largemouth pop., except for St. lawrence River, which is a great fishery. My question is: What kind of lures work best for smallies at Canyon? In the Northern States, i know that grubs and tubes work best, along with chartruse and orange spinnerbaits (I personally have several snipperbait lures that are awesome...an orange one with orange blades, irresistable to them, I can't wait to try that @ Canyon!). Please give me some ENLIGHTENMENT on this issue!!!! Any help is appreciated. P.S. Do the majority of anglers use spinning tackle for smallies? Please let me know, I am totally inexperienced with baitcasting rigs..they intimidate the $&*t out of me, but I am excited to learn. Good luck out there and can't wait to put some names to faces!

I love fishing for smallies, I only use baitcasters unless I am dropshotting.

when I fish for them on apache lake I spool up 2 curados with 4lb test and throw little 1/16th-1/8th oz panther martins.
